However, over the past few months, a number of issues have slowly gotten more and more annoying, to the point that combined they sent me looking for another grinder: As for grind settings, the adjustment knob is easy to turn, too. And when you’re done, this hand grinder is easy to clean and small enough to store anywhere. The C2 grinds faster and with less effort than the C3, but not by much. The extra cuts on the S2C burrs of the C3 mean there’s more of a cutting surface that the coffee has to move through. Without those extra cuts, the C2’s burrs have an easier time moving coffee through them. I’ll share the tale of its success in this review. The Timemore C2 just may be worthy enough for your coffee beans. Timemore C2 Review Grinder Overview

But when it comes to portability, the crank handle is permanently attached to the lid. That’s a little thing that I don’t like. If I remove the lid and put the handle and the grinder in the bag, the leftover coffee ground can easily go out and make it a little bit messy. Except for this, nothing to complain about. Ease of use Still, if you can’t stand plastic, the Timemore Slim Plus has the same high-quality burrs as the C2 with improved build quality. It’s more solid in form, which makes it more stable, and is made out of aluminum. Suffice it to say, the C2 is great for brewing methods that use medium to coarser settings, like the French press. Timemore C2 Grinder Speed If, like me, you’re wary of adding more plastic than necessary into your kitchen, know that the C2 is at least made of PCTG plastic, which is BPA-free, food-safe, and extra-durable. PCTG plastic is much longer-lasting than many plastic parts. Boost the grinding speed and durability/lifespan of the Timemore C2 with original carbon-steel titanium coated conical burrs. Already installed in the Grinder, these burrs are a more traditional hexagonal conical burr that will remain sharper for longer and produce a higher quality grind consistency. Timemore Chestnut C2 Hand Grinder Features At first, I found it hard to notice any clear difference. Both grinders provided sweet cups but with a slightly faint aftertaste.

You need a better burr quality – The Timemore C2 grinder settings are pretty good with 38 mm stainless steel burrs that only take 30 seconds to produce a high-quality grind. However, there’s always something better than the best. The Lido 3 grinder is no exception, featuring a build quality with 48 mm Swiss-steel burrs that are much larger, more powerful, and yield a smoother grinding process for your ground coffee. The C2 comes with a cleaning brush and only needs to be brushed clean. FYI most hand grinders should only be kept spic and span with their cleaning brush, not water. However, these burrs are NOT the same. They are slightly smaller at 38 mm vs. 42 mm on Chesnut X, and the geometry is also different. Capacity seems so simple we tend to overlook it in favor of grind size, consistency, and performance by brewing method. The inner cone burr does look rather unusual, with vertical lines going up across the upper part of the burr. The thin aluminum helps keep the weight down but won’t offer the same protection as stainless steel. So the Timemore Chestnut C2 isn’t ideal for long-term travel where it’ll probably need to deal with some rough handling along the way. Instead, there are many other more premium coffee grinders up to that task (like the 1Zpresso JX Pro).

That means you have to remember your preferred grind setting(s) AND you have to do a little math every morning — before you’ve had coffee. If you’re looking for a good quality grinder, Timemore has plenty of options to choose from. In addition to the Chesnut C2, they also make the X, G1, Slim, and Nano. Read on as we explain the differences so you can find the best option for your hand grinding needs: Timemore Chestnut X That should also help this hand grinder age a little more gracefully; burrs change over time, but a spring won’t lose tension that easily in a grinder (since it won’t undergo too much stress). The flavor differences between the two are especially noticeable in espresso. Pulling a good shot with the C2 is a challenge. The minute inconsistencies in grind size lead to huge variability in flavor shot to shot. This is a problem for the C3 also, but it’s much worse with the C2. The grind inconsistency would be noticeable in Aeropress and even V60 brewing as well. ValueThe C2 and C3 both have a decent capacity of about 30g. Each also has vertical lines on the body to provide grip when grinding coffee beans. With a beautiful wood and aluminum body, the G1 is very similar to the top-of-the-line X. But this model doesn’t offer the same kind of fine grind adjustment settings. Although it does have the same excellent grind quality we expect from Timemore. Timemore Chestnut Slim I really like this hand grinder, from the build quality to the overall user experience. I think it’s great for a budget grinder in this category. The full grind range is not the consistent grind range. As a result, any espresso setting on the Timemore won’t be consistent enough to make espresso fans happy.
