Len Cariou and Angela Lansbury originated the roles of Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett. However, Sweeney’s quest for vengeance against the judge turns into a vendetta against all humanity. What happened then, well that’s the play, and he wouldn’t want me to give it away. So if you haven’t yet, watch Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street!I have been cosplaying Sweeney Todd for 3 years now, and have put in a great deal of time researching and looking at pictures of the Sweeney Todd costume. So I thought I would share a bit of what I know. Sweeney Todd, former Benjamin Barker, is a barber who is unjustly convicted by Judge Turpin, a man who wanted to take his family from him. Todd is exiled to Australia and after many years, he is able to return to London, seeking revenge against Turpin. He starts working as a barber again, but hate has invaded his entire soul and killing becomes an obsession. He murders his customers with a razor while his partner in crime, Mrs. Lovett, bakes their flesh into meat pies. Now I will start going into the finer details of the cosplay, paying attention to these details will make your cosplay much more authentic and closer to the screen used costume. Sweeney Todd, played by Johnny Depp, was originally a man named Benjamin Barker. He was living a happy life with his wife and daughter as an English Barber in the movie Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. An evil Judge, because of his desire for Benjamin Barker’s wife, falsely accused Benjamin Barker of committing a crime he did not commit. Benjamin’s Barker’s life was destroyed and he spent 15 years in an Australian prison. But finally, he escaped, barely recognizable. He took the name of Sweeney Todd. He vowed to avenge Judge Turpin, but every human he could get his hands on.

Colleen Atwood, a multiple costume design award winner, has always surprised us with her talent. This movie, being a classic tale, is not the exception of her expertise and passion. While it’s not quite beach weather right now, it’s never too early to start planning for summer. (Or perhaps you’re planning a seaside jaunt before then!) Although you’re probably not keen on wearing authentic Victorian swimming bloomers, a vintage-inspired beach outfit is fun and classy. Plus it’ll make you stand out in a sea of itsy-bitsy bikinis!
