Suffice it to say, there is lots and lots of action, lots of shooting as Joanna and Brook run down the killer. Using her extraordinary beauty and covert ops training, her job is to smuggle a single weapon--usually a gun--into impossible locations, such as a billionaire's yacht or a maximum security prison. There were a few moments where one had to evoke the "suspension of belief" clause one signs when reading a book but it IS a graphic novel after all so just sit back and enjoy the ride. With Gun Honey I think you need to be open to pulp fiction/noir storytelling to truly appreciate how great and fun this first issue is.

And the art uses the characters ample charms effectively as one of many weapons in the characters arsenal. When you’re the best in the world with a very specific set of skills, it’s logical that even governments would want you on their side.

But more than that, Keng’s compositions in Gun Honey are effortlessly cinematic in a way that makes it easy to envision cuts and transitions, scenes falling and smashing from one to the next while the action never stops moving. And the art uses the character’s ample charms effectively as one of many weapons in the character’s arsenal. That said, Kheng stays away from gratuitous cheesecake poses or silly body posture simply for aesthetics. Joanna Tan is Gun Honey, a person who can pierce any security, find the hole in any secure wall and leave behind a weapon that someone can use to do good or bad things with.

But yeah, you're not going to be stopping every few pages, attempting to decipher the most cryptic of plots. However, it's a perfect excuse for some well-drawn, almost cinematic, action scenes with gun fights.

In relation to the latter, I would warn that there are some very explicit scenes here - both of killings, and also of Tan, as she picks her way through an exploitative, male-dominated world (or at least, it was till she took a stand). S. and as soon as she arrives home she is met by a government agent that knows all about her and her infamous reputation for being able to get you the weapon you need, where you need it, and when you need it.
