Overall if you have this box, don’t panic. It will give you a place to start with, especially if you aren’t going to include any primus units. Start Collecting! Vanguard Space Marines

Aggressors and Intercessors are brilliant units that feature in a bunch of high level armies. Split the Intercessors into two 5 strong squads, throw bolt rifles on them. Couple this with the Aggressors and you have a core army that can throw out absurd amounts of firepower. All of these units are usable up to a fairly high level of play, with eliminators being almost must have unit in some tourney lists.

These successors are known as the “rad” and “actually awesome” Space Marines and are normally played by good looking and fashionable people. We're really looking forward to playing out the Shadowspear campaign with the boxed set forces, then adding the Vanguard Space Marines to our Start Collecting force of Raven Guard. The Vanguard Space Marines will fit perfectly into our force of covert operators. We're also keen to see if they bring out the Kill Team stats for the Infiltrators and Eliminators, both are perfectly suited to the skirmish battle rules. Was macht die Vanguard Space Marines so besonders? Dark Imperium deutlich besser beraten.Like the new Start Collecting: Chaos Space Marines box, it’s a bit hard to evaluate this one effectively because it’s currently the only place to get Suppressors, which are an insanely good unit for Iron Hands and, to a lesser extent, Imperial Fists armies. That said, everything in this box except the Lieutenant is a solid addition to a competitive Space Marines army, and even the Lieutenant is serviceable in a pinch. Even if you could get Suppressors somewhere else, this box would still be an incredibly good value based on what’s in it.

We’ve talked about the rules a bit in our general Getting Started article on the rules, so let’s drill down into detail about Space Marine Successors. The Codex The Space Marines Gladius Task Force Detachment will be included with the free Index rules when 10th edition launches. Warhammer 40k detachmentswork differently in 10th edition 40k compared to ninth. Each detachment provides your force with army-wide rules, six 40k stratagems, and a set of enhancements (similar to Warlord Traits or Relics), and may impose restrictions on how you construct your list. The Master of Possession is an incredibly powerful unit for the Daemonkin. He has the ability to disrupt enemy psykers with his Rite of Possession ability, which increases the risks to enemy psykers using their powers within 12 inches of him. He has access to the Possession psychic power from the Malefic Discipline powers list. Possession increases the Master of Possession's own close combat ability, but also allows him to reinforce his own army with the slain of his enemies. If he kills any Astartes miniature, he can even summon a Greater Possessed, which are incredible close combat units. In Warhammer 40k 10th edition Space Marine chapters don’t have the same role that they did in 8th and 9th edition. All Space Marine chapters share the same Oath of Moment army rules. Some Units and Epic Heroes have keywords that indicate they’re part of a particularchapter. Contents: 1 Painboy (Elites), 11 Ork Boyz (Troops), 5 Nobz and ammo runt (Elites), 1 Deff Dread (Heavy Support)The Obliterators are twisted mutations of organic weapons. They are armed with Fleshmetal guns that have random characteristics. At the start of each shooting phase, three D3 are rolled to determin the Strength (roll plus 6), AP and Damage of the weapons. Each Obliterator can fire 6 shots a turn, so even rolling a 1 for each stat makes them damaging weapons. This army can bring almost everything it has into the mid board straight away, where it can start getting value out of the successor traits through bolter re-rolls and punching people in melee. The main thing it’s a bit light on is answers to big tanks (as the Start Collecting boxes aren’t great for this), but the Captain will kill almost any vehicle he touches, and the Aggressors and Invictor are also a real threat. Don’t be afraid to try and use the Eliminators to plink mortal wounds off as well – using the Sergeant’s ability to improve the rest of the squad gives you a reasonable chance of scoring one, especially as the bolt rifles will then be hitting on 2s re-rolling 1s thanks to Bolter Fusilades. You’ve also got some real threat to enemy characters between the Eliminators and the Phobos Lieutenant.

If money permits, I would highly suggest Betrayal at Calth as that gives you a sizable SM force and a range of bitz that lets you build up another devastator squad easily. Sons of Orar: We know that the Sons Of Orar have red power armour with white bits. Which is totally cool. Also that they have Ultramarine linage. That’s about it though. It’s a videogame that focuses almost all its energy on the audio-visual rhythm and sheer serotonin-pumping, kinetic joy of its combat gameplay – and fills in the piffling details of story, characters, environments, level design, and other such distractions, afterwards. One of the nice things about Militarum Tempestus being 4 units in 3 kits is that you get all of them right here in this box. Like the generic Militarum set this comes with the plastic Commissar (a bit like Tech-priests Dominus in Ad Mech, if you have any interest in buying Tempestus at all you will end up drowning in these guys), but also two squads of Scions and a Taurox. Squads of Scions and Tauroxes are pretty much all there is to have for the Tempestus, and the Scion kit is a dual one which lets you build the Tempestor Prime and a Command Squad too, and is full of cool bits. If you want to get some Scions on the table there’s basically no better way to do it than this – turn the Commissars into terrain statues or convert them into other things.
