In his comic book appearances, Darkseid, formerly known as Uxas, is depicted as a New God and the tyrannical ruler of the planet Apokolips. His ultimate goal is to find and gain control over the Anti-Life Equation to enslave the multiverse by eliminating all hope and free will in sentient beings. Regarded as one of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe, Darkseid serves as one of Superman's greatest adversaries and the archenemy of the Justice League. The character is first alluded to in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016).
