Widdicombe gives it deep thought, before deadpanning: “Well, Alex has bought a big house in Huddersfield. Using a different television show of the time as it's starting point for each chapter Watching the Nineties is part-childhood memoir, part-comic history of 90s television and culture. I think this should be listened to or read before any baby handbook , just to put things into perspective. Booking after dinner speakers, motivational speakers and keynote speakers, awards hosts, presenters and conference facilitators.

I loved reading the references to things I had entirely forgotten about (You Bet, the theme tune to Big Break, the Martins in Neighbours). What I’ve learned is to just let Lou make friends and I’ll pick the one with the bloke I get on best with, and that’s our new double date.By stealth, it has become not just one of Britain’s most beloved late-night shows but is home to some of the spikiest satire. But, unfortunately, “Watching Neighbours twice a day” is a pointless, vacuous exercise in lame nostalgia that has nothing original to say about its chosen subject of 1990s British Television. But if now and then he’s going through the motions, well, they’re always very funny motions to go through. This book is a very easy read for a very niche group of people who lived through the fun kids’ TV of the 90s. Like many comedians, Josh Widdicombe and Rob Beckett found themselves without an outlet when the pandemic struck.

There was all that early pressure for lockdown to be a moment for everyone to find themselves, but actually it’s just about getting through it. RB: We genuinely started it because we thought it would be fun to do, but last week it was the top podcast in the country. We book celebrities for personal appearances, headline musicians, stand up comedians and other entertainment. Parenting Hell by Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe is a book based on the parenting podcast they run. They sit in their respective homes – Beckett's in a shed at the end of his garden, Widdicombe's in whichever room in his house has the best WiFi that day – and muse about what's happened in their family lives that week. The book was super disappointing though - written through the eyes of 90s TV shoes, which whilst was a good trip down memory lane, loses its appeal after the first few pages if you’re really not that fussed about TV. I think this is a must read for any new parent who is thinking that well repeated line…’have children they said, it will be fun they said’…of course it is but this book demonstrates we all need that reassurance once in a while that it will really all be ok and you are not alone.
