Description

Formulated in multiple mediums, thermally conductive silicone adhesives, polyurethane resins, and thermally conductive epoxy adhesives are designed to deliver on two fronts:

Two-component epoxy adhesives comprise resin and hardener and are available in a range of viscosities. However, if heavily filled with conductive metal, viscosity can become quite high. If filled with silver, volume resistivity can be as low as 0.0001 Ohms∙cm. Electrically conductive adhesives are primarily used for electronics assembly. These adhesives are ideal for electrical interconnect but also for thermal and structural bonding applications, offering improved reliability in electronic systems.Soldering is a relatively straightforward process, but it is important to solder safely and ensure the correct equipment and soldering iron tip is used to create a secure join. Safety is essential so always make sure you are fully prepared for the task before using soldering equipment. Copper Tape for Shielding Because this glue is quite flexible and you can vary its resistance, it has potential for different kinds of paint on sensors for robots or other devices. It should be possible to paint on strain gauges on the outside of a regular glove and use it for virtual reality or other control possibilities. Touch sensors and membrane switches can be painted on various flexible or rigid surfaces.

An unfilled epoxy with independent heat-curing (50 minutes at 80°C) and light-curing (4 seconds at 150 mW/cm2) mechanisms. Very high Tg of 179°C. Additionally, Henkel’s chemical technologies ensure easy application in any setting. Whether that’s using snap cure, heat cure, room-temperature cure, or dual component conductive adhesives. Learn more about our electrically conductive glues, adhesives, and epoxies below and discover how Henkel can advance your automotive, medical, telecom, and consumer devices through better materials designed to meet today’s challenges.

An unfilled epoxy with independent heat-curing (60 minutes at 80°C) and light-curing (2 - 6 seconds at 60 mW/cm2) mechanisms. Complies with ESA (ECSS-Q-70 02) and NASA (ASTM E 595-93) outgassing requirements. Silver-filled polyurethane adhesives are starting to appear on the market. They are two-part adhesives, so they either require mixing or they are supplied pre-mixed and frozen like the snap-cure epoxies. They offer high peel strength and flexibility. As they are silver filled, high levels of conductivity can be achieved (around 0.0001 Ohms∙cm to 0.0004 Ohms∙cm). Syringe: A Syringe may come with your adhesive and can be used for tight to reach places. If you need to inject amounts into corners or holes, a syringe is perfect for this type of job. Electrically Conductive Adhesives (ECAs) are used for high-reliability applications such as aerospace, medical, automotive, and consumer products. However, Henkel also offers ECAs that are non-noble metal compatible which are ideal for handheld consumer devices. In both cases, conductive glues, adhesives, and epoxies offer viable lead-free solder alternatives for active and passive component attachment across a range of applications. The BOND PLY family of adhesives is both thermally conductive and electrically isolating. BOND PLY materials, available in PSA or laminating formats, provide for the decoupling of bonded materials with mismatched coefficients of thermal expansion. BOND PLY offers: Strong bonds and gapless performance to enhance uniformity across seals and negate the need for mechanical fasteners.

Looking Conductive Adhesives, then you have reached the right place. These adhesives are electrically conductive and are formulated from silicone or epoxy resin filled with metallics or conductive carbon fragments. Conductive adhesives are a liquid solution that can be applied to create a thin and flexible layer of highly electrical conductive material to an area or device. Our range of conductive adhesives are sourced from leading brands such as; 3M, Chemtronics, Electrolube, MG Chemicals and RS RPO. How do they work? The lubricating graphite resulted in a resistance equal to the graphite from a chemical supply. However, it is quite a bit more expensive for the amount of glue you get. If you just want to see if it works or only need a small amount of glue, it works fine. A B-Staged epoxy also suitable for lid attach. A-stage cured in 10 seconds using UV light, then B-Staged in the oven for 40 minutes at 150°C. Suitable for a flexible manufacturing process. You can create a line stencil by cutting a 1/8" or wider slot in a piece of cardboard and painting in the slot. To create resistors you should first test your mix between two wires taped an inch apart. Let it dry overnight before you measure the resistance. Even when slightly wet, the resistance will be higher. To create a resistor I use a mix of 1/2 graphite to 1 liquid glue or of 1 to 1. To increase the resistance add less graphite to the mix or make the line less wide or thinner or longer. The curing durations for epoxies are significantly longer than the heating and cooling times for solders. So care must be taken to make sure they are maintained at the proper temperature during curing, or the epoxy may not fully cure.

What Are Thermally Conductive Adhesives?

One component epoxy adhesives are normally heat cured so take care to choose a cure schedule that won’t compromise sensitive electronic components. Snap-cure frozen epoxies are also popular for the electronics industry; these products require freezer storage and cure once they reach room temperature. These can be expensive to transport and store. A silver filled one-part epoxy can achieve conductivity as high as a similarly filled two-part epoxy. Electrically Conductive Adhesives (ECAs) are used for high-reliability applications such as aerospace, automotive, medical, and telecom products. However, Henkel also offers ECAs that are non-noble metal compatible which are ideal for handheld consumer devices. In both cases, conductive glues, adhesives, and epoxies offer viable lead-free solder alternatives for active and passive component attachment across a range of applications. Isotropic conductive adhesives are electrically conductive in all directions and are therefore ideal for die attach, chip bonding, attaching SMDs, etc. Anisotropic conductive adhesives only conduct electricity in one direction, so these are often used for very sensitive electronic components such as LEDs, LCDs, and RFIDs. Henkel’s LOCTITE® range of conductive adhesive for electronics offer strong component and PCB interconnections for on-demand, long-term, and reliable performance. Our broad portfolio of electrically conductive pastes is formulated using a variety of base chemistries including acrylate, epoxy, and silicone platforms, each of which is designed to provide manufacturers with choice and flexibility for varying requirements. A high viscosity unfilled epoxy with independent heat-curing (60 minutes at 80°C) and light-curing (2 - 6 seconds at 60 mW/cm2) mechanisms. Very high Tg of 185°C.
