In the very first story we are shown a powerful scene where Harry Potter is being sorted into his Hogwarts House. After hearing how many dark wizards have come from Slytherin, Harry decides he doesn’t want to be in Slytherin. He fears joining that house will make him evil. Just like Volemort, who killed his parents. It’s kind of funny how the ideas build on themselves around here. I’ve been a HUGE fan of Harry Potter ever since I read Sorcerer’s Stone in 1999. About 5 years ago I started reading aloud the book to my kids. If I remember correctly, I got about 3 chapters in before my oldest, who was 7 at the time, took the book from me and devoured the whole thing in 3 days. He then went on to read the entire series three times over.

Take a first look at the new Harry Potter x Ulta Beauty

Inspired by the stories of Harry Potter and the Wizarding World, the collection features everything from bath bombs, body lotions and beauty masks, with some magical surprises woven in. Later on, Harry asks the Sorting Hat again, and the Hat still insists Harry would have done well in Slytherin. SLOWLY add the wet ingredients to the dry. Drop by drop. And mix. Mixing with hands works better. Divide up and color (you want about a 1 to 1 ratio for Hogwarts House bath bombs so for Gryffindor do half the mixture yellow and half red (if you’re doing more than one house in one batch you can split it even further). In the large bowl combine the baking soda, citric acid and cornstarch. Mix well, but be cautious. The citric acid does like to become airborne, especially with enthusiastic helpers pouring and mixing. And citric acid can be an irritant. If you are making these with your kids, make sure to prepare them in a well ventilated area and encourage kids to go slow and gentle.Even with similar abilities, potential and strengths, choice is the one thing that truly defines the path of one’s life. And can be the deciding point between good and evil. The best part is that the science behind bath bombs is fascinating and has lead to some really great experiments and discussions as we make these fun treats. The collection caught the imagination of Harry Potter and beauty fans alike, calling it 'every Harry Potter fans' dream', with others saying, 'the line truly has it all'. InsideTheMagic.net dubbed it 'more exciting than a trip to Hogsmeade!', while ThePopInsider.com praised the collection for its 'ultimate nostalgia' feel, promising the range would 'add a little Lumos to your life'. Now a few of these started out with one inspiration, but over time have taken on a new Harry Potter themed inspiration. Sometimes I write the articles using a non-Harry theme, but today I am sharing our magical interpretations of some tried and true bath bomb recipes!

Once removed from the molds I like to let them sit out for another day before I put them away. This helps them really harden up.I highly recommend using safety goggles, gloves and a face mask when mixing up bath bombs, especially if the kids are helping you. Citric acid can be irritating and you definitely do not want to get it in your eyes. With my heart condition, I also find it is always best to be safe and protect my airways when working with anything that can become airborne. Always use common sense and protect yourself. And of course, kids should always do this project under responsible adult supervision. Step-by-Step Instructions For Making Harry Potter Golden Snitch Bath Bombs Officially called the Sorting Hat Bath Bomb, these Harry Potter bath bombs actually harness the power of the wizarding world to determine which Hogwarts house you'd belong in, if your letter ever came (seriously, Hogwarts—we're still waiting). Repeat the process with the second bowl using the dark green mica powder and green glitter. If the colour is not dark enough for your taste, add some more mica powder, but go slow. A little goes a long way. Our severely conflicted potions teacher, Professor Snape, would insist that we turn our bath bomb making projects into a lesson. It fizzes, erupts, smells (amazing), sounds like a potion the Half Blood Prince would be proud of!

I was out of mica colouring, so we used food colouring and only one colour in this demonstration. This means our colours are paler since we could only use 2 drops of food colouring because the liquid colour causes the mix to start reacting. Add coconut oil. Depending on where you live you may want to get fractionated coconut oil, or warm your coconut oil so it isn’t solid. You want it liquid so it mixes well. I know most of the year our coconut oil is solid. In a large bowl, add the baking soda, citric acid, Epsom salts and cornstarch. Mix the dry ingredients together with a spoon or your hands. Use caution so the dry ingredients don’t become airborne. Handling the bath bomb carefully, spray lightly with rubbing alcohol. Apply the gold mica powder either with your fingers, a small paint brush or add the mica powder to a bowl and ever so gently roll the bomb in the powder. To make an ethical (or unethical) choice, it can change the arc of someone’s life and how they are judged by others. One choice can change so much. In a large mixing bowl, add baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch, Epsom salts, SLSA, and creamof tartar. Mix. Of course, you’ll need something to put all your new products in, and these cosmetic bags come adorned with your Hogwarts house traits. Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Brush Kit
