Green-Schools have dedicated Travel Officers throughout the country who work closely with schools to support them through the 7 Step process of the Travel theme. These officers offer assistance with conducting your Environmental Review; beginning your Action Plan; hosting Days of Action and can help you apply for cycle training and parking for your school. Participating schools Following the UK’s departure from the European Union, the flag of the European Union is no longer included in the list of flags that do not require consent. This is an award given to the clas who has accumultaed the most pupils who travel to school using sustainable methods such as walk, cycle or park ‘n’ stride. This months award was a very prestigious one as it coincided with our Bike Week and the huge improvement in the weather. This gave pupils a great opportunity to use sustainable methods of travel. Well done to all who have changed their travel behaviours and a special mention to our parents/guardians for supporting our Green Schools initiaitve.We are keen for local authorities and other local organisations to follow suit. We have made it easier for the Union Flag to be flown alongside other flags, so organisations can highlight their local identities, as well as their national identities, and celebrate special days or events which champion civic pride. This means promoting walking, cycling, scooting and public transport, and encouraging parents and guardians to do the same. It also means reducing the number of car journeys made to and from school.
