Ongoing monitoring of nesting beaches and foraging sites enables us to understand more about their populations and increase protection in these areas. When you adopt a turtle, you provide financial support for turtle conservation projects that focus on preserving the nesting grounds. Turtles normally swim near the surface of the ocean where they are often killed by boat propeller accidents. You will support undercover investigations at aquariums and other captive facilities to expose exploitation and to free turtles and other animals from cruel captivity. Adopt a Turtle and the recipient gets a beautiful gift pack to let them know just how much you care about them.

Adopt and you will receive a gift pack including a cuddly toy (or a personalised book with a Tiger adoption), a certificate plus lots more. On Sal, the team block off an area on the sand, south of Ponta Preta Beach, where they look after the turtle nests 24 hours a day.Your donation will also help us provide essential funding for GPS tagging of our turtles and security cameras around our site. Endangered marine turtles are often washed up on beaches throughout the South West of our state, usually after storms which throw the young turtles out of their journey via the Leeuwin Current. This is a way to help save the turtles by supporting programs that make it safer for us to lay our eggs and help clean up the ocean so that we don’t eat bad things or get caught in fishing nets. Adopted sea turtles make fantastic birthday or holiday gifts, and they are also a great way to engage the little ones with marine conservation.These unique turtles have the largest eggs and hatchlings relative to their adult body size of all sea turtles, and they have a unique physiology that allows them to stay active underwater for longer periods than most other species. Once these nests have been excavated, the hatchlings are released into the sea, from the quieter, safer beaches, under the cover of darkness with just the moon to light their way. A lot of times I see a plastic bag floating in the ocean and I go after it because it looks like a jellyfish. Rain washes sediment from construction into the ocean where it pollutes the turtle’s feeding grounds.
