Because it was throwing a lot of information at you from the off, and it being two years since I read book one meant it did take a little while for me to get back into things. All the different departments of the bureau sound so perfect to me: everything makes sense even when it’s all SO magical. I don't know that I loved this quite as much as book 1, but it's still continuing to be a great series and I look forward to seeing what Amari does next. I’m always nervous about picking up a sequel because they often don’t meet my expectation, but this was certainly not the case with AMARI AND THE GREAT GAME.

With this being said, I am really looking forward to the 3rd-book, which I expect to be absolutely epic.
