I have to admit that many kid games nowadays are dripping with educational overtones so much that you are not having fun but being forced to learn. A small amount of choice is given so kids can make decisions about which stack they would like to use. Stars – A fun dexterity game that will help all players of all ages learn or sharpen their stacking and placement skills. All of that said, a bit less randomness might make it more my speed (I’d love, for instance, rolling to determine how you place the animal, rather than how many animals or which animal you place), but also, not every game is designed for me personally, so, whatever. All the animal tokens are all of a unique shape and color, wooden, and have kid appropriate details to each animal.

While I don’t think Animal Upon Animal is a great 2-player game, I do think it’s a great game that excels at kids having fun while they learn. No sooner has the frog hopped onto the back of the kangaroo than the hedgehog gets ready to jump up and join him. If one or two animals fall off because a player tried to stack, then that player has to add these animals to their animal total. While there should be an element of luck in games, it’s frustrating if there’s no real way to mitigate it beyond hoping that that player sneezes.Gather the family and see how high you can stack all sorts of animals in this dexterity game by HABA. With HABA’s excellent quality wooden pieces, it’s built to withstand whatever the littlest gamers can put it through while helping them learn to follow rules and increase their fine motor skills.

After discussing my wife’s question with anyone who would listen, I was directed by a mutual friend to a small booth by the game company HABA.We did start to use the variation rules which ask you to use all remaining animals (so you then have 14 each instead of 7) but even the 2-player version with these rules is still not much fun.
