Principal photography took place in early 2010 at Shepperton Studios in Shepperton, Surrey, [5] with some outdoor scenes shot in Camden and Primrose Hill.

But when a new member joins to share his depression and thoughts of suicide, the conversation takes a darker turn. But when a new member, Jim, joins to share his depression and thoughts of suicide, the conversation takes a dark turn. A powerful depiction of modern-day isolation and the dangerous power of technology, Enda Walsh's play Chatroom formed part of the National Theatre's 2005 Connections season, an annual festival of new plays for youth theatres and schools. The performances take place ‘as part of the school day’, during a designated extra curricular activity time.

Conversations range in subject from Britney Spears to Willy Wonka to — suicide: Jim is depressed and talks of ending his life and Eva and William decide to do their utmost to persuade him to carry out his threat.

It received its first professional production in the Cottesloe auditorium of the National Theatre, London, in March 2006. When William gets it and comes back, Eva punches him and the rest of the crew comes, followed by the police.I've been wanting to read this for such a long time, well since I saw the movie and it finally came in the library today. The very last line pisses me off, but that aside this is a well written, through my provoking piece that shows off teen-angst but not in a way that makes it appear any less real. I am a teacher and my initial plan was to do some of this this with my students (all around 17 years old) but none of them knew what a chat room was. Chatroom is a 2010 British psychological thriller drama film directed by Hideo Nakata [3] from a screenplay by Enda Walsh, based on Walsh's 2005 play of the same name.

Jim is another loner who is suffering from depression following his father leaving him and his mother. Disclaimer/Trigger warning: This production contains adult themes and language from the very start, as well as references to suicide, depression and family trauma. His plans are halted though when his computer and phone are taken away from him by his father, who when looking through William's computer, finds one of the suicide videos. This serves as a chilling reminder of how people have the power to manipulate and influence those around them.

Chatroom was originally performed as part of the 2005 NT Connections season, produced by Boomerang Theatre Company, Cork and directed by Donal Gallagher. They devise ways in which Emily could be more violent and make it look like somebody is harassing her family, which makes her parents try to protect her more. William Collins is a depressed teenage boy recovering from self-harm and regularly goes online to chatrooms.
