The GEL-CUMULUS™ 23 G-TX shoe helps you focus on the distance ahead as you move towards your personal best. The upper layer of the midsole features 3D Space Construction for maximum cushioning and flexibility. There is noticeably less wear on the outsole of the Cumulus 23 than on the outsole of the Nimbus 23 after the same mileage so I’ve been very happy with durability.

Creating a softer feel underfoot, this shoe features updated GEL™ technology unit in the heel that allows your feet to experience cloud-like comfort.The abrupt heel transition does make the most rear portion of the heel a bit unstable as the posterior lateral flare does cause a faster degree of pronation due to the ankle going through a greater arc of motion. And, if you are planning on increasing your run-time, the highly resistant rubber compound reduces wear at key impact areas of the outsole. The FLYTEFOAM™ technology in the midsole is softer than the previous version to promote a pillowy ride. The 3D Space Construction is an intelligent solution for gender-specific, local compression without loss of stability.

As you can see there are no real venting holes for heat to escape, but it does vent from the body of the upper once there's enough pressure. The Guidance line down the middle of the foot, from heel to toe, helps the foot move smoothly through its stride for a fluid, unrestricted run.
