The first book in the beloved Mark of the Lion series, A Voice in the Wind brings readers back to the first century and introduces them to a character they will never forget―Hadassah. In this short and very readable book, author Tony Sullivan answers all your questions about Rome and its long history as well as tells you the real life story of the man Russell Crowe incarnated on the big screen: Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the armies of the North, general of the Felix legions, loyal servant of the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius; father to a murdered son, husband of a murdered wife, and . Book 1 in the 3-book historical Christian fiction series by the New York Times bestselling author of Redeeming Love and The Masterpiece.

What I appreciated most about this novel is how Marcus is allowed to be more than a slave and gladiator and how Lucia does what she must to survive her situation while always holding fast to the defiance and strength she shared with Marcus in their early days.By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. I must admit I read this when I was in a very fragile state of mind having just suffered a terrible tragedy of my own, so it’s possible that affected my reading of A Day of Fire and how I responded to it, but I know it was extremely well written and I was so glad to have read it. He has always been interested in writing and his love of history began at school, in particular when he was being taught about the ancient world by his Latin and History teachers. Your selection was perfect for our children and what really made the difference was your ability to engage with each child, discuss their interests and help them to choose a suitable book based on your extensive knowledge of the books you were selling.

This novel was one of my comps when marketing my own book to publishers, and I love, love, love how salty the heroine Pelonia could be at times.

Learn why you should become a gladiator, how to join the profession, who will try to kill you (and what with), which arena of the empire is right for you, when and how often you will fight and what happens before, during and after the bout.

This kind of book which the protagonist died in the end, it is no common what made me feel really surprised, so I can say that I liked this book. The book is 700 plus pages and covers some of my favorite sci-fi romance tropes: alien abduction, space opera, and alien gladiator. So gripping, your hands are glued to the book, and so vivid it burns itself into your mind's eye and stays with you long after you turn the final page. The deceit and betrayal that is the backbone of the story is well crafted and by the final chapters you'll be gripped to read the outcome, even if you have seen the film. As Vita struggles to solve the mystery of who murdered her father, she must also decide where her allegiances lie.

They would also only drop off a case of books and leave us to run it – it was so lovely to have you on hand to chat to the children and recommend them books, as well as the small (but appreciated! Russell Crowe heads up an international cast that includes Joaquin Phoenix, Connie Nielson, Oliver Reed, Derek Jacobi, Djimon Hounsou, and Richard Harris. If your into Roman history you should really like this book, it’s not often you get such a good book about an individual soldier.
