I saw a vid where someone pressed mode while it was on time warp but for me all that does is “add highlight. This is useful in cold conditions, obviously, but also for trail biking or other activities that require gloves.

With the Smart Remote–and the Wifi Remote, for that matter–you can control up to 50 cameras at once. If you don’t see the option for “Remote” on your HERO9 Black, you probably need to upgrade your firmware to a more recent version. In the Wi-Fi menu, press the [Mode Button] until [Wi-Fi RC] is highlighted and then press the [Shutter Button] to select it. Not an awful lot has changed since its predecessor, the GoPro Smart Remote, but it comes in a smaller size and arguably has more well-thought-out button placement. The remote may ask you to pair another, press the [Mode Button] to highlight "No", then press the [Shutter Button] to select it.

With the launch of the GoPro Hero3+ GoPro made the housing slightly smaller and only rated the new standard housing to 40m. To this day it still has a better WiFi range (600ft/180m) and waterproofing (10ft/3m) than most unofficial remotes. The newer GoPro Hero3+ or Hero4 housing is now referred to as a standard housing and to increase the depth rating to 60m you will require a GoPro Dive Housing or use a GoPro Hero3 housing.

This is much more convenient than the unique dedicated charging attachment that some older GoPro remotes have used.Many of us don’t shoot in optimal wireless conditions, so we can expect the real-world range to be somewhat less than that. Perfect for gear-mounted shots, you can power the camera on/off, adjust settings, start/stop recording and capture photos.
