About this deal

Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. I always thought the artwork was mediocre at best just seeing it on my phone or laptop, but it actually really pops on the LP. Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive.

The Animals produced some great album tracks, such as "I'm Mad Again" (originally by John Lee Hooker), "Worried Life Blues", and "Bury My Body". Animals is a concept album, focusing on the social-political conditions of mid-1970s Britain, and was a change from the style of the band’s earlier work. Products labelled '*item fulfilled by Exertis on behalf of hmv' will be supplied to you directly by Exertis via their approved couriers. The disc itself feels solid, not like the wibbly-wobbly thin things of the (oil crisis) 1970s/1980s, and as it's a relatively short album the grooves have room to breathe, resulting in proper bass - plus plenty of room to lower your stylus at the start of a side; ideal for those of us who have a bit of the shakes when hand cueing. The 40 songs capture the band at their peak, including most of their best and biggest hits: "House of the Rising Sun", "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", "Bring It on Home To Me", "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place", "I'm Crying", "It's My Life" and "Boom Boom. Although it’s been a long time since 1977, the narrative of the album still resonates today as our social and economic situation mirrors that of the time. The album's iconic cover shows an inflatable pig (now known as Algie) floating between two chimneys of the Battersea Power Station, conceived by Roger Waters, and designed by long-time collaborator Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis Studios. I asked her what other albums she thought I would like and was told that Animals was a great album, so I bought it for her to replace her damaged first pressing and give myself a reason to continue to explore their works properly.VG+ (Very Good Plus): This record has clearly been played before, but has only a moderate reduction in sound quality, despite a possible slight loss of shine and some surface marks. Not only does it have a punchy crisp bass that thunders, but the lead guitar work and synth in Sheep are a full frontal assault that at times leaves you overwhelmed, and yet every note comes through clear as crystal and leaves you wanting the album to be longer. And wow, what an album, it's short but oh so very very sweet and this reissue is a treat for the senses that make it worth every penny.
