About this deal

It grows and breathes just like the characters, and I’m excited to see what the revelations and all the other changes to the witch community will mean for future books. As they explore these new powers, their feelings grow, and Nina starts to evaluate other relationships in her life. Hmm… I enjoyed the first two books in the The Witches of Thistle Grove series (I devoured them) so I was excited to dive into this book.

Nina’s individual character arc of her strange and mysterious connection with an unknown entity was compelling. I mean, I absolutely understood her, but she just felt mired in the past when literally everyone else around her was catching up to the times. It's a little more heavy on the romance, this one, and while I still liked it very much it didn't have the same oomph of loving it that the first one gave me.When she is not obsessing over her fur babies, you can find her at the beach reading or staying up late to embroider while watching the latest true crime docuseries.

The relationships are portrayed with compassion and honesty, and the author’s note at the end that explains Hoover’s personal connection to the subject matter is a must-read. Fortunately, the romance was lovely and warm, even if I felt it was shoved off to the side more than it should have, like there was supposed to be a romance, but this was really meant to be about Nina’s growth as a person and a witch, but there really has to be a romance. Lily won’t send Emerson to her father’s house overnight until she’s old enough to talk—“So she can tell me if something happens”—but she doesn’t want to fight for full custody lest it become an expensive legal drama or, worse, a physical fight. She's a squishy marshmallow underneath her crunchy exterior and I looooooved reading her relax and truth become the strong person she is. Industrial action and public holidays can significantly delay deliveries which is out of our control. Lana is the New York Times bestselling author of Payback's A Witch and the forthcoming From Bad to Cursed from Berkley Books.

I definitely found the second half to be much more engaging, so I was a little disappointed during the first half because it was a little slow and all I really had to rely on were Giorgina and Nehal to get me to the second half. An awkward first date leads to a sparkling romance between one of the most powerful witches in town and a magical newbie in this rom-com by Lana Harper, New York Times bestselling author of Payback's a Witch. She was born in Serbia and lived in Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania before moving to the United States, where she now lives in Chicago with her family. I want to start with a disclaimer that nonbinary covers a WIDE range of identities and presentations. I loved that they had their own personalities and I always felt the hint of a greater complexity to them.
