We usually get together at Christmas to play board games but last Christmas was not your usual Christmas and because of shielding and isolating we couldn’t do this so it was really lovely to get together in the garden on a summer afternoon to play a game togethe. Points for guessing the correct range depend on how confident you are and therefore how small the range you’ve guessed is. It was a bit grown up for the 6 year old but as part of a team he could contribute and had as good a time as the grown ups. The aim is to get the answer in your range, while also getting the smallest range compared to the other players.
To play you only need a minimum of 2 players, but you can easily play with more, even playing in teams, so Confident?We love this game and it has quickly become a new favourite, we first played it between the two of us and enjoyed it so then played with the whole family, despite saying its for up to 30 people though it only has 6 wipe clean boards, there were 9 of us so we had some couples sharing boards and one score keeper which worked out ok, we were short a pen for the score keeper though so had to share pens also. In a bigger group, I'm sure it would have opened more discussion and the fact that the rounds are so quick means you don't have to commit to a whole evening. For example one question is the worlds first speeding ticket was issued to a motorist driving at what speed? Players are also given a set of one-use powers that they can indicate on their boards: copying someone else’s answer, switching two other player’s answers, and doubling whatever their score would be. As it’s only N and I who play board games in our house, it’s great to find another game we can add to our regular pile when it’s just us as so many need more people.
We had a good laugh at the questions, were astounded at some of the answers, and I triumphed getting right how many weeks the longest number 1 single was at the top of the charts.
Loads of fun, this has been our go-to game in recent weeks and we’ve enjoyed playing it just as much with just 2 of us during the last week in lockdown! And last, but not least, games (especially party games) should not create more “feel bad” moments than “feels good” moments. The pile of cards sits in the middle of the table, each player (or team) has an answer board and a pen and someone is the designated scorekeeper who gets the scoreboard to fill in!
