Oh Joy Sex Toy was first recommended to me a couple of years ago by my best friend, and I used to read it religiously. Sexy times are illustrated with characters who have a wide range of genders, orientations, and body types, and Moen’s fluid, bouncy brushwork makes the brashest nudity look cute. The graphic novel is reviews of sex toys, a look at the porn industry and general information regarding all things sex. It started off with a bang (PUN INTENDED) and built its audience because of Moen’s straightforward, sex-positive reviews of popular sex toys, as well as Moen’s commitment to drawing characters that represent the full spectrum of gender, race, ability, sexuality, and sexual partnership. When I wanted to understand more about contraceptives or what it was like for a pornstar in this world, OJST is where I found the most information told in the clearest way.

My Aussies who are looking to grab one of these beauties for themselves (Aus link), you might get a black remote like the one I drew in the comic instead of a white one on the box cover. The book had a great deal of information on sensitive topics such as lady boners and HPV, and delivered it all in amusing and entertaining ways. A tiny Hien holds onto the bottom of a giant b-Vibe as it flies through space happily vibing away, as Hien concluded his comic. If there’s one downside to it it’s the large size; there are so many vibrator reviews in one edition that it was easy to get overwhelmed. Hien is a CIS heavier-set man of color with thinning, but elegantly pulled back into-a-bun hair, that pairs with a mighty beard and mustache to boot.

I do actually appreciate all the different body types depicted in this book, as well as the genuine sex ed parts of the book. Guest comic artists, especially kink education strips by Niki Smith and Ariel Vittori, are incredible. Some of the stand out comics in this issue provided information on how to make good homemade porn, foreskins, HPV, vaginismus, swinger's parties, how porn is made and a review of the book Girl Sex 101, which is the only comic that I remember from when I used to read OJST online, and directly influenced my purchase of that book. And as always I laugh when people get “psychosomatic” and “psychic” mixed up; at least this time it was on purpose. We will never knowingly harvest your data beyond the cookies needed for smooth running of the site, and wouldn't dream of passing it anywhere.I absolutely recommend this book for those curious about sex, sexuality and more looking for educational discussions about topics that usually remain under the covers but done with humor, compassion and lots and lots of puns.
