Description

Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd’ is a flirty title that feels more along the lines of poetry and similar to the title efforts of The 1975. Many of us expect her to be a certain way when she has the right to just be herself, whether we like it or not. Lana Del Rey cites a wide range of musical artists as influences, including numerous pop, jazz, and blues performers from Andrew Lloyd Webber to Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Bobby Vinton, and Miles Davis. All the tracks are still listenable, but it's annoying that a new vinyl like this would be so poorly pressed. Did You Know That There's A Tunnel Under Ocean Boulevard significantly strengthens her impressive canon of work.

Angelina” has a summery and self-contained upbeat nature that it follows that same theme into “Peppers” and “Taco Truck x VB”. In particular, the record faces up to the queries and doubts that loom over even the most non-traditional of women as they journey through their thirties – ones society haunts you with until you have an answer. This is where it sounds familiar to Del Rey’ most monumental work and best album to date: ‘Norman F Rockwell’; it uses the similar production styles of and harks back to this and other albums like ‘Honeymoon’ and ‘Lust for Life. It suits the brooding reflection really nicely, but won't be for you if you prefer more bombast and energy. We use cookies to give you the best possible experience on our site, provide personalised content and advertising, analyse our traffic, and ensure you see more of what you love. And, yes, I thank you even while at the same time I’m not too thrilled with some of the songs on this album. Along the way there are a handful of tracks that don't really catch my ear, but fortunately the album ends very nicely with "Taco Truck x VB" where parts of an early demo of "Venice Bitch" have been inserted. The albums’ themes encompass Lana's friends and family, influences, artists she has worked with as features and behind the scenes, but also being happy and proud of her own work and accomplishments.

Limited edition Indies exclusive includes alternative artwork and heavyweight light green colour vinyl also Standard heavyweight black double vinyl in gatefold sleeve. With 16 tracks, the album includes collaborations with everyone from Father John Misty to Bleachers, Tommy Genesis to Jon Batiste. Over a decade since transforming the pop music landscape with her debut “Video Games” — the best Lana Del Rey song of all time — Del Rey has finally dropped her ninth studio album, the full-length follow-up to 2021’s Blue Banisters and Chemtrails Over the Country Club. Available as a standard heavyweight black double vinyl in a gatefold sleeve, the album is a must-have for fans and music enthusiasts alike. As reported in the Official Vinyl Albums Chart Top 40, less than a month after its release, ‘Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd’ sold over 20,800 copies on the format. The drumbeats and the jittery style are also familiar to the single “West Coast” and “Venice B****” where the VB in “Taco Truck x VB” associates. Del Rey ended her note by thanking her photographer Neil Krug "for these pictures that say 1,000 words.
