I can't emphasize this enough, and I am not one to really give trigger warnings often but this book absolutely necessitates it. There are some heavy themes that are dealt with, with such elegance and suspense that I really enjoyed this as a read and I was also really happy how the author portrayed all these thematic elements into one. Because shortly afterward it took a serious turn for the better (though for the worse for what the characters go through). I saw the reviews for this and thought it would be great, I've got readin Colleen Hoover recently and was looking for the same sort of gritty vibes.And August is a standup guy and understands, until he realizes the next night at his game that Iris is dating his childhood nemesis. She is singular, obliterating every kiss that came before her, eliminating the possibility of anyone else ever tasting this good.

In this parallel universe, at this second-chance juncture, I turn right instead of choosing wrong… and there only there, we are together. But what I can say is, I love that this author continues to use her platform to tell the stories that need to be heard. This is a real and raw novel, and I know a lot of people won’t be able to read it because it is so triggering, but I also think this book has so much power to heal abuse victims. And for those of you who have read this book already and liked it, I would recommend Kane's Hell (ignore the absolutely terrible title and cover, it's a much more serious book than it looks and is not a paranormal romance at all). The story of August and Iris is heavy, it holds you on the guts and you cannot put the book down until you finish it.When her course takes a turn for the worse she ultimately steps into the role as the hero of her own story. Sometimes the heart speaks in whispers, and by the time we hear, by the time we listen, it’s too late and we don’t know. i really recommend reading this book, but again…it is NOT for everyone🥺i care so much about all of your guys’ mental health, so please read the content warning🫶🏼kennedy ryan…thank you for writing this book🥺your book dedication means the world to so many, including myself.
