About this deal

In my opinion, Oracular Spectacular is one of the best albums of 2008, the melodies are catchy, beats are great, it's just awesome synth-pop. Overall, the MGMT - Oracular Spectacular LP (RSD Essentials pink vinyl) is a highly sought-after and collectible release for fans of the band and vinyl enthusiasts alike. Nods to their likely heroes aside, MGMT crafted a brilliant and personal work of art with OS, deftly achieving multiple feats: chart-topping, smash hit bangers (we all know the ones) that deliver the dopamine but never sound stale, weird, beautiful, abstract artistic tracks, eye-watering satire ("Time to Pretend"), willfully "stupid" pop efforts that unintentionally sound 200% better than almost all pop tracks released today, a poetic rainbow assortment of memorable lyrics, and complex themes both timely and timeless. MGMT's 3rd album continues the progression started on the previous release "Congratulations", moving further into the outer limits of psychedelia.

The vinyl record itself is heavy, it's not labeled as 180 gram vinyl, but it's heavier than the other records in my collection. It's a record that embodies a whole world of vulnerability, confusion and unsteadiness without losing shape. Whilst I didn't dislike their subsequent work this one remains an album I play frequently, so decided to pad out my collection and grab a physical copy. After A/B the living shit out of them (with headphones), I can say that I like the 88697195121 version better than the MOV version. Newly remastered from the original analog tapes, this 2LP edition of MGMT’s psychedelic rock masterpiece from 2010 is pressed on 180-gram vinyl and features the paradoxical “Flash Delirium.

The album was originally released on January 22, 2008, and has since received critical acclaim for its unique blend of psychedelic pop and indie rock. The vinyl mix is supposedly "enhanced," however, on certain songs, like "Kids" (last song on Side 1), the bass is pounding away, and it sounds a little distorted, and the vocals are fuzzy-sounding. The album features MGMT's signature song "Kids", the funky track "Electric Feel" (famously covered by Weezer) and the smashing opening track "Time to Pretend".Produced by MGMT and Sonic Boom, the album was recorded throughout 2009 in Upstate New York, Malibu and Brooklyn and features the band's core duo (Andrew Vanwyngarden and Ben Goldwasser) performing with Matt Asti, Will Berman and James Richardson, their live band.

Titled 11- 11-11 in honor of that date, the music will finally be released on all streaming platforms on 11- 11-22, the 11th anniversary of the hour-long, one-off concerts. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, it is definitely one for those that understood the musicianship and profound expression of the anti-commercial esoteric tracks from their debut album. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.Forty years after the Summer of Love (and 30 years after the Summer of Hate), MGMT is celebrating the grand re-opening of the third eye of the world with Oracular Spectacular, an enigmatic and prophetic collection of hallucinatory sounds and hook-riddled Pop tones for the new millennium. The panning from left to right sounded not only better in clarity, but did a better job at creating the effect. The album has been described as "an album for an entire generation of kids raised on pop culture" by Rolling Stone and "a psych-pop masterpiece" by NME. The album features some of MGMT's most popular and well-known songs, such as "Electric Feel" and "Kids. and liked it, the rest of the album will certainly not disappoint - but there's enough variety that you'll not be bored by the time track three rolls around.
