The Amazfit Cheetah Pro is a high-end sports watch designed for outdoors enthusiasts and runners looking to take their training to the next level. Previously Editor of Wareable, he’s also spent time manning the features section at Trusted Reviews and T3. I've already got a Coros Apex 42mm for running, but I'd like to upgrade into something with more smart features. When those maps are on, they’re certainly not the richly detailed maps you’ll find on watches like the Garmin Epix or even third-party Apple Watch apps, but it does offer you a little more detail to survey surroundings and get a better sensor of what’s around you. The plans are at least well designed and the sessions weren’t out of the ordinary of other plans we’ve followed in the past and are well built for those new to running or training for their first race. The next day it continued to warn me I was at ‘high altitude’ and to be mindful while training – but just look at this elevation graph! Since then, they’ve made lots of really good progress on software, while reducing (significantly) the number of units they’re releasing. Plus, with the AI-powered coaching feature, the watch gives you valuable feedback on how to improve and adjust your workouts to reach your goals. Ignore that line that drops out half-way, that’s when I forgot to replace the battery on the chest strap, and it died halfway (and defaulted to the optical HR sensor for that watch, which wasn’t on my skin). I could not see third party sports apps for their proprietary Harmony OS (which I suspect is a paired down Wear OS) to circumvent some of the limitations.
The navigation features you have at your disposal here aren’t groundbreaking either and lack turn-by-turn navigation, but they do work well enough to be useful when you're exploring new environments. The strap is a perfectly comfortable nylon one that, while isn’t the best in class nylon strap I’ve used, hasn’t caused any sort of irritation during runs and can also be easily removed.
