About this deal

In 2007 and again in 2010, he was voted the greatest stand-up comic on Channel 4's 100 Greatest Stand-Ups. It's curious to think that a lot of younger Australian kids don't know Billy Connolly, as he was something of a staple here for many years.

The book was written a few years ago now so perhaps she felt the need to confirm both her and Billy's fame at the time. This book tells the story of all that and more; it's filled with heart-wrenching sadness, gut-busting laughs, and a bunch of other stuff that is always entertaining, always interesting, and as far from 'beige' (Billy's greatest dislike is of 'beige' or uninteresting people) as you can imagine. Signed Exclusive Edition which has stencilled edges with Billy's signature plus hand drawn endpapers by Billy, and pink foil embossing on the hardback case. You see where he has taken this pain and what he has done with it and you applaud him for pressing on and pushing through it. I purchased this at Manchester airport, the final stop of an Incredible String Band tour of Birmingham, Liverpool, Northampton, Cambridge, Oxford, Leichester, Beverly, New Castle, and Edinburgh to learn more about Billy Connolly, and more about his friendship with Robin Williamson.

In this book he gives you his tips, through roughly chronological anecdotes, on how you, too, can become windswept and interesting. I have seen him a couple of times in concert at Hammersmith, London and have watched most of his TV work but only a few of the films he has been in. His effortlessly wicked whimsy has entranced, enthralled - and split the sides of - thousands upon thousands of adoring audiences. His life is a seemingly infinite wellspring of incident, all of which he’s commendably frank and open about. I now understand why this had been highly rated, it was a brilliant autobiography and possibly the best one I've read.He could have turned out so differently by letting those who were supposed to have raised him get to him, instead he pushed on and had the great delight of proving them all wrong. His comedy is about real-life situations that we've all been through or things our relatives, particularly our mums and dads have said to us when we were young.
