About this deal

The story is about a girl named Tiernan who is from Beverly Hills and is the daughter of two famous people who just died. They're garbage people who resented their kid because she took time away from their One True Love, and as soon as she was old enough to be foisted upon someone else, they totally did that. Girl is placed under care of her father's stepbrother, who lives in the mountains of Colorado with his two sons.

One of it (the threesome with the boys) honestly was really disorienting for me because there were a lot of motions going on. The drive to his remote cabin is appropriately tense and suspenseful and actually kind of reminded me of TWILIGHT with the cold, privileged girl "exiling" herself to somewhere forested and remote and filled with hot guys. the moment they met he tried to have sex with her even though she said no multiple times and then he proceeded to be rude to her for pretty much the entire story after that, by throwing food at her, writing “slut” on her forehead, and just rude things that are certainly not how one is supposed to show love to another.I thought this was definitely more of a love square what with the three guys 😂 But yeah… this one surprised me in a good way!

In the context of Credence, this was a definite " romance" and because of that I couldn't look past the twisted, bizarre and unfortunate elements. Following the sudden deaths of her parents, seventeen year old Tiernan de Haas is set to live with her father’s stepbrother and only living relative Jake Van der Berg and his two sons, Kaleb and Noah. Most of the time, I couldn’t tell the difference apart between her delivering the inner monologues and her actually reciting the dialogues. With several years of book blogging under her belt, and a desire to work with the literary community in making it more diverse, she is always open to collaborations. Her multi faceted personality gets too big to be contained in the House so she sets off to find herself.pretty much the only thing i liked about tiernan was her love for the animals, so there was that ig. there were some sentences that could’ve sounded really good in different context, like the super emotional revelations did not fit with this book and it was stupid but in another book where that type of thing made sense it could’ve worked. even when we get a chapter from his perspective, it's evident he feels nothing for the heroine besides a vague physical interest in her. and there are so many wonderful reviews out on Goodreads that gives a very clear idea of what Credence is all about. Front the first scene she meets Kaleb he nearly fucking rapes her and I knew I wouldn’t like him from that moment on.

Tiernan is very quiet at first, rarely talking and when she does it is with as few words as possible. There was such a strong build-up of emotions and very intense sexual attraction between these characters and it was literally like a blow-up when it happens. If you have read other Penelope's books you will know by now she has a lot of darkness in her stories and here us where the beauty comes, she took real feelings even the most dark and ugly and turns them in something amazing.

The central romances were a bit of a clusterf*ck of thing: a massive age gap, step-relatives, dubious consent, etc. There's such depth to these characters and it's clear that they're all badly hurting, as there's a lot of pain, anger and resentment in their histories that they've kept with them until now. I can take daddy kink and stepbrother erotica, but girls or boys banging stepfathers or stepuncles or teachers? Enjoy the magnificience, the power of the fall but go take a peek behind it, there's a hidden cave decorated with beautiful sentiments drawn on the walls, it's a tunnel of warmth and love. Noah tells Terry that he's the only one who hasn't hit her but he's the only one who shes not interested in?
