I’m sort of used to this sort of draping on a figure of this scale, and a plastic dress would end up like a traffic cone, so that doesn’t bother me as much as the shoulders. Most people know Mego as the premiere company that created 8″ scale action figures in the ’70s, but there were other companies making figures in this scale.The Monster is packed with an alternate head with his teeth exposed (presumably from when he’s learning to speak in the second film), two sets of hands in relaxed and open gesture poses, and two sets of manacles with chains of differing lengths. I feel like the teeth aren’t set at the correct angle in the open mouth so it looks a little odd looking up at it or straight on. The likeness of actress Elsa Lanchester is pretty much spot on, and the wraps on her arms look really great too. He fits perfectly on this shelf, and though better Madman figures have since been produced, I have a soft spot for the Big Blast scale and sculpting.

I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical about these when they were announced, mostly due to Jada’s usual products not seeming to line up with this quality of line. In general, the styling here is definitely going by the Hasbro playbook, and that continues to the sculpt. I love the NECA Frankenstein’s Monster and the preview photos of the Jada toys didn’t grab me and Jada was new to the six inch, super-articulated figure game.He is the silliest of the Mego scale monsters, which falls in line with the rest of the Mad Monsters.
