About this deal

Not only in a fantastic location just minutes off the M8, but the Glasgow Club Bellahouston also provides around 250 free car park spaces for use on the day. Hardcore gamers might turn up their nose at this game, because the mechanism is just move your pawn around the circle, take the stuff, move it again, take the stuff, until you’re in front, then wait. On being told the ‘Sound-Off subject’, you have 30 seconds to mention as many of the six key words printed on the card. The first building is placed anywhere in the midst of play, then each subsequent building is placed adjacent to something already built, with the buildings eventually filling in a 4x4 grid of the players' own creation. I think the fact that there is no way to completely prevent your opponent from getting points helped.

Taxi Board Game contains 600 local history and general knowledge questions about Glasgow, and just like driving a taxi, the better your knowledge, the better the tips, the more you earn. I suppose it could come across as fairly abstract; but if you’ll engage the imagination the artwork goes together really well to create a fun, if slightly dry, picture of Glasgow, Scotland. You can approach the game from several ways too - building factories early can get you some guaranteed income, but factories themselves are awful for points. Two players of ages 10 and up compete to become the most successful merchant in the city of Glasgow. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.Glasgow is a two-player specific game designed by Mandela Farnandez-Grandon and published by Lookout Games. As soon as train stations appear it becomes a battle of who gets it and then a battle of trying to stop that person from scoring it.

And as a cherry on top, the buildings are drafted from a face-down pile, with only 8 visible at a time. The end of the game is triggered when the 20th building is placed into the tableau in the centre of the table. Like in Patchwork, the player who is last is the one who does the next turn (or turns if the player stays last in the circle). After getting into the board game hobby at the end of 2014, we've decided to share our thoughts on the games we're collecting on our shelves. In no way does this mean that the game is unbalanced, it is perfectly possible to work around these buildings and thwart your opponent at every step of the way, which is absolutely one of the strong points of two player gaming. It’s quick, although every turn feels full of tension as you’re trying to decide the best way to get what you need without giving away everything to your opponent.

Rather than feeling thematic, there’s an almost engine building or tile-placement feel about it, due to the way in which buildings score and/or activate. The game, which involves between 20 – 40 participants, provides a structured way of investigating strategic questions, making use of intelligence from Understanding Glasgow and tapping into the experience and knowledge of participants. Our exhibitors sell a variety of gaming related items including retro games, computers, consoles, handhelds, artwork, apparel, import games, arcade machines, merchandise and more.
