I most likely wouldn’t be purchasing my 8-9 year old either one of these devices as an initial tablet. Until then, I'm just pleased when my youngest hops up on the couch with me to watch him flip ebook pages and do sketches and take photos. Each child using the device has their own profile, and once you select that profile you’re presented with several pages of apps, all represented by a chunky icon. Because LeapPad offers a robust and varied selection of games, educational tools, and reading materials, your child will have to adapt to each new form, shifting gaming strategies while playing different types of games, or simply switching between academic subjects.
