About this deal

While Horus' rebellion burns across the galaxy, a very different kind of war rages beneath the Imperial Palace.

Once within the Immaterium He forged an unknown bargain with the Chaos Gods and was imbued with new powers and the knowledge required to ultimately create the primarchs, superhuman beings whose creation would combine techniques of arcane genetic science with the energies of the Warp. Here we get to see that in fact, portions of the webway are large enough to fit Warlord Titans, and even entire cities. I'm not sure if we picked a specific reason, but we are not removing the Emperor's more Fatherly/Benevolent moments from our canon. It’s all very gritty, pulpy, and pacey, which is exactly what Warhammer readers have come to expect. The Imperium's rule, carried on in the Emperor's name since the end of the Horus Heresy by the High Lords of Terra and a multitude of Imperial organisations, has been long, oppressive and necessarily harsh. Speaking personally, much as I did enjoy the ideas and concepts introduced, so much here w orked against the story that I was always left with the sense of almost disliking the fact I was engaged by it. There aren't any books I think you absolutely have to read to understand what's going on here, but you'll definitely get more out of it if you have a good understanding of the setting, both during the Heresy and the 41st millennium.

So, we had to replace them, but hopefully we won't have to do that again after our last replacement. The decision to keep and deploy Angron looks stupid from a purely logical point of view, but then, there is no explanation why the Emperor would keep Angron around, unless it was out of paternal affection. Many of Dembski-Bowde n's main stories will stick to simple and direct core plots as a basis for stories. His psychic power was so great that its energies altered His genome and physiology in the womb and rendered Him immortal so He would no longer need to reincarnate and could not be assaulted by the daemonic creatures of the Immaterium upon His death. Beginning at that time, and with the aid of his great friend and collaborator Malcador the Sigillite, the Emperor undertook a series of military campaigns against all the other techno-barbarian warlords on the planet that would collectively later become known as the " Unification Wars. One, as you pointed out, this version of the Emperor seems to be limited to AD-B alone, so we could choose to disregard. While personally I don't entirely agree with it - as there are plenty of twists and shocks which did still get me - I will agree that there is a more notably predictable curve to events, and how the larger scale of the story will map out.
