About this deal

In the case of Duran Duran’s “Ordinary World,” things shift entirely in the opposite direction, transforming the song into a piano ballad. Few have the power and range of Lambert's vocals, as evidenced by his recruitment to front Queen, a role he's tackled with poise. I said to my team, I wish I had new music to put out on the quick side for all of my beautiful fans and the idea for a covers album felt like we could get that done quicker.

Album closer ‘Mad About the Boy’ is a triumph, it feels like it could be a theme song from the next James Bond film and Lambert’s spectacular storytelling skills are masterful and dynamic in equal measure.I heard, because I know Ilsey quite well, so I heard the original and I just thought, "Oh, this is so beautiful. The former trumps the latter since it is the Lambert one is after when purchasing a Lambert record – so excuse him when it's overdone.

On December 13, 2022, Lambert performed the lead single " Ordinary World" during the season 22 finale of the The Voice.are different enough and good enough to justify their existence and show what an album of cover versions delivered with "high drama" could have been, but does anybody really need yet another karaoke cover version of "I Can't Stand The Rain" or "Mad About The Boy"? And I think I'm in a place right now that's interesting 'cause I just feel like I have a really strong idea of what I want to make. Conceptually, High Drama by Adam Lambert is relatively simple: The powerhouse vocalist takes a some of his favorite songs, turns them on their head and adds a dramatic flair. The all-fabulous star takes the liberties he should, like when inserting mind-hijacking dance beats to songs such as "Sex On Fire. Baltin: That takes us nicely into the album and some of these songs on High Drama that you chose I imagine were very instrumental for you as you were growing up.

The result, High Drama, (★★★★☆) is more than a throwback to his Idol origins — it’s the kind of collection that could only have been put together and delivered by someone confident in his identity as an artist. And yet it’s crucial we stay active and provide vital resources and information to both our local readers and the world. As wild as this is to say, Lambert might've been a more effective interpreter back in the days of the competition and restrictions of American Idol. And so it's interesting because I didn't even think about it consciously but yeah, almost all of the artists on the album were people that have had like their own moment, their own sound.Lambert is no stranger to this interpretative body of work and shows it from the onset of the record. It's an explosive first track, and it isn't in a war against the rhythm of the original the way some of the other stompy covers here are - because Lambert's producers haven't vacuumed all of the disco qualities out of it to make it sound more like Queen. Over the past decade, I've explored a few different areas and sounds and energies, and I feel like part of this new chapter in my career is me being really clear on who I am, and what I am, and what I'm not.

Lambert is no stranger to impressing crowds with his carefully curated transformation of other artist’s songs, from the beginning of his career on American Idol to his 2018 performance at the Kennedy Center Honors, where Lambert reduced Cher to tears with his delicate ballad reading of her mega-hit “Believe. And I love that everyone can turn on the Grammys and see something of themselves reflected on the screen. His song writing skills and vision were stellar on his previous cd Velvet, but this album showcases another side to his versatile talent! Ordinary World" goes back to the well of his "Mad World" breakthrough on American Idol, finding the deeper pathos in the brittle songwriting of the 80s. And, with "Mad About the Boy," Lamber turns a little song about a boy into a soaring Bond-theme ballad that never abandons its core of vulnerability.

Lambert: And I feel for me, I can look back on the stuff I did on Idol, and even the beginning of my journey with Queen and I watched performances and I'm like, I think a couple different things. He added, “The brief was to take a bunch of really great songs from all genres and completely remold them. Songs range from the more recent, Pink's 'My Attic', Billie Eilish's 'Getting Older', an epic rock re-imagining of Lana Del Rey's 'West Coast', to the beautiful interpretation of Noel Coward's classic 'Mad About The Boy'. It’s exciting, and if our new takes of these wonderful songs can surprise the artists who recorded the originals, then the record’s definitely succeeded.
