There is of course a huge learning curve to this, but that's more the fault of the software (Ableton) than the hardware.

Legacy mode is excellent for those who are nostalgic and wish to use favoured layouts from older versions of Launchpad.I use it for key switch articulations in Logic, I use it for drum racks in Ableton, I use it for clip launching in both Ableton 11 and Logic 10. So far I've only used it live for improvising sequences, but I plan to prerecord a set with it, taking advantage of the pattern memory to create variations and drop these phrases in and out.

In other words, unlike with the Launchpad Pro MK2 which I felt was thick and heavy, the size and weight between the MK3 and X shouldn’t be a limiting factor for those who want go for the extra features of the MK3. I also go beyond the specifications and offer lots of side-by-side pictures to give you more of a sense for the difference between these controllers.
