About this deal

Wolves, her first picture book was published in August 2005 and marked the beginning of an internationally stellar career creating extraordinary books for children including Orange Pear Apple Bear, Meerkat Mail and Matilda’s Cat. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.Sunny lives on an arid plain with his extensive and loving meerkat family; they work together, play together and together do their best to stay away from jackals! Payments made using National Book Tokens are processed by National Book Tokens Ltd, and you can read their Terms and Conditions here.

There’s so much to enjoy, from the newspaper cuttings on the endpapers to the wittily accurate information about each mongoose species Sunny visits on his journey. Emily Gravett is twice winner of the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal and the Nestlé Children's Book Prize Bronze Award for Wolves and Little Mouse's Big Book Of Fears. Emily first sprang into the limelight with the ground-breaking Wolves , which has been followed by such modern classics as Meerkat Mail , Little Mouse's Big Book of Fears , Monkey and Me and Again! This is a great story, about a meerkat who goes to find a better home and realises he was living there all the time.

Her first picture book WOLVES was published in August 2005 to great acclaim, winning the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal and a clutch of other awards it marked the beginning of a stellar career creating extraordinary books for children. I was a little disappointed with the finish of the book because I had to glue several of the flaps back down before I'd even read it. Her most recent picture book to be published by Macmillan is Little Mouse’s Big Book of Beasts, the hotly anticipated follow-up to Little Mouse’s Big Book of Fears. My son really enjoys reading it or me reading it to him, or sometimes just looking through and reading just the postcards!

But Sunny is starting to feel claustrophobic and decides to set off to stay with his mongoose cousins and explore the outside world. He journeys through rain and shine and light and dark, reporting back to his family via a series of postcards. Each book is unique and different from the last – and each features endearing, beautifully drawn characters that touch the heart and tickle the funny bone.

Together they imitate and then imagine visiting a string of real animals, from penguins to kangaroos, whose glorious images fill the pages.
