About this deal

With the series “A Glasgow Kiss N Tell” brace yourself for uproarious dating escapades and hear the true tales behind the rom com gone wrong series, starring the lovable and relatable Zara Smith. This being The Herald, I’ve chosen the comparatively subdued aftermath of one of Zara’s bedtime rendezvous which she discusses with her friend, Ashley. We watch her plunge head over heels in love with an older man, as we belly laugh at the antics she performs, using every trick and tip from her friends to make sure his love is reciprocated. I have no such disastrous love life (because I have no love life), so I had a fun time reading about someone's ups and downs in this arena.

The bar is literally on the ground for what she’ll accept from men in her life and she just ignored every red flag she ever saw. I loved the main characters clumsy, loveable and hilarious traits and the events she got herself into had me in stitches!

It was heartwarming to know I’m not the only female who checks ‘read’ receipts and ‘last active’ on WhatsApp and social media platforms. A Glasgow Kiss, was released with a new book cover than Sophie’s original (the Duke of Wellington Statue- featuring the iconic Glaswegian cone) to target a larger audience down South. Combined with the bold language of Glasgow’s streets, we journey inside Zara’s head revealing the truths, the drama and the heartache that goes along with dating in the twenty-first century.

Were it better written and edited I’d have enjoyed it more but grammar issues, strange capitalisation (“walking through the Streets”), spelling mistakes (b-line instead of bee line) and justification issues (words spread across the page) really put me off. We've all had endless supplies of dating experiences, from the weird to downright quirky and OMG epic scenarios, but like Zara, nothing beats catching up with the besties and offloading the hot gossip. We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. Recently, on the gogglebox, there have been some howlers posing as provocative television drama that are about as edgy as Classic FM. I love how we get to follow her around the city and if you have been to Glasgow you will know many of these places.A Glasgow Kiss, which follows the life of singleton, Zara, and her journey into the weird and wonderful world of online dating, was published on December 14. Ultimately, though, the girl comes good with the perfect ending for her story—all she needed to be happy was her own confidence, and a man can't ever give you that!

Her third book, Meet Me in Milan was also a number one best seller on pre-sales alone and it hits the shelves on the 17 th of August. I also loved the Glasgow setting, but I found it to be a bit cringe in places which detracted from my enjoyment! DNF - I read over 100 pages and Zara constantly speaks negatively of herself and gets obsessed over toxic relationships that leave you uncomfortable. She has almost completed her degree, living out a rented apartment owned by her Mother and vastly approaching thirty. Zara needs therapy and to live herself more than she needs any of the terrible men I’ve read about so far.

I felt like the main character was quite immature, if I’m 29 years old and that bothered about a “hairy fanny” that I need to mention it before every date… who caressssss. A really fun and quirky read, yeah there were some cringey moments but that’s life I’ve had plenty of them dating !
