The setting in this book was described absolutely beautifully and it was one of my favorite things about it. The Summer of Broken Rules has warmth, humor, tons of Taylor Swift song references, and of course a dreamy love interest, with mourning a loss adding to the emotional range. Filled with heart, it reminded me of some of my favorite summer reads and I know I’ll be recommending this one for a long, long time.

Every year, the entire family plays this game and I found that it brought more excitement, a bit of suspense and a LOT of fun in the story! She and her family arrive at Martha’s Vineyard, and the bride announces to everyone that in honor of Claire’s memory, everyone will play Claire’s favorite game, Assassin, during the week of the wedding celebration. To be fair, at that point I couldn't care less about the characters or anything, but it was still surprising and a little odd.
