Our tester was a big fan of the zip-up fastening, as it was easy to get to just the right tightness (which isn’t always the case with the traditional blanket-style swaddles). The soft, clingy fabric wraps around baby to replicate the feeling of being in the womb, whilst the ARMS UP™ hip-healthy design aids their natural sleeping position. The product is nice and tight so the baby feels secure and wakes up less from a nap and in the night.

This is where the patented zip-off wings of the Transition Bag are essential for a fuss-free transition from swaddling towards independent sleep. Prior to introducing the swaddle up I resorted to using a baby nest at night (something I did not want to do) to reduce his startle and allow him to sleep for longer periods. Step One: Releasing one arm out of your baby's swaddle for all sleeps, to allow your baby time to become used to this new way of sleeping. DS is 6 months and as it's stretchy it gives him room to move his arms without being too constricted, but stops him from moving about too much and waking himself up.
