About this deal

Just like an evangelical Christian who never shuts up about Jesus, these people just can't help themselves. These changes cause and drive inflammation and we think this increases the risk of cancer and other chronic diseases. We are now experiencing an internal climate crisis - Dark Matter reveals that if we work with, not against, our microbes, we can live better, healthier lives.

The intro mentions the human appendix; long thought by medical orthodoxy to be a superfluous organ in need of removal. To get the balance right between being entertained and learning complex information about the gut microbiome concurrently is quite some skill and J Kinross has got this balance just right. And that, in our quest to cure the world of infectious diseases, we’ve inadvertently created a new pandemic of non-infectious ones.We have to come together and reject farming practices and healthcare policies that ultimately lead to the destruction of our human microbiome. Information about gut health is decent but it leans too heavily about climate change, Covid and other political views of which i think are biased (in my opinion) and feel as though the book fits a certain narrative that I respectfully disagree with completely. The microscopic life forms that preside over our health and wellness are increasingly frustrated with the mistreatment inflicted upon them by hyperglobalization – and they have a formidable molecular arsenal with which they are demonstrating their displeasure. We are also running a long-term study to help us understand the evolution of the microbiome in very early life and its importance in influencing your risk of disease later in life.

Sadly, in a trend that seems to be increasing over time, a book about literal bacteria has somehow managed to cram in a ton of partisan preaching, jargon and politicking. We are going to need to understand more of the importance of microbiome to our health as the looming future of antibiotics becoming redundant is fast approaching. Highly recommend this to anyone fascinated with the human body, gut health or generally wants to read about something fascinating.

The global pandemic of non-infectious diseases is, arguably, a greater threat to humanity than that caused by any communicable disease. Our gut microbiome is responsible for educating our immune systems as we grow and for controlling how those immune systems function later in life, as we age. A large proportion of our immune system is located within the gut because it has to process a huge number of environmental antigens. Dr James Kinross is a senior lecturer in colorectal surgery and consultant surgeon at Imperial College London and a visiting professor at the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland. Kinross has a knack for breaking down complicated scientific concepts into digestible information, making it accessible to readers of all backgrounds.

I thoroughly recommend this well-written book to anyone not afraid of something moderately academic. Which brings us around to the larger question here: What the fuck does any of this stuff have to do with microbiomes and literal bacteria? This involves following two cohorts of children from birth and studying how their gut microbiome evolves as they grow up in varying circumstances. Biography: Dr James Kinross is a senior lecturer in colorectal surgery and consultant surgeon at Imperial College London and a visiting professor at the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland. There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data. They can make us depressed, make us crave certain foods, and can cause or prevent many chronic diseases and other health conditions.

I’m saying that we are currently experiencing an internal climate crisis and we’ve got to change society. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.

The audiobook version I have was also read by the author; which is a nice touch that I always appreciate. I guess those of us who purchase such a book are very much aware of the statistics and back ground stories. It is given to us by our mothers at birth, adapts with us as we age, influences our moods, determines how fast we run and even who we choose as a partner.
