The reason for leaving a dehumidifier upright for 24 hours is the same reason as with a fridge and, that is to prevent liquid coolant getting into the compressor. A humidifier won’t work instantly to clear the air; it’s a slower process taking between a few days and a week depending on your room size.

For safety and reliability, this dehumidifier comes with Auto Restart meaning it will turn itself back on to the previous settings after a power loss, Child Lock to avoid any settings being pressed accidentally, Castors for easily portability and a Full Tank Auto Shut Off Switch meaning the unit will cleverly turn itself off once the tank is full eliminating the risk of overflowing water and leaks. The frame of the HEPA filter is made of cardboard-like material and has a layer of foam around its perimeter to help it fit snugly. Also no matter what speed or angle there's a pulsating noise that becomes more and more pronounced over time. The Devola machine uses an R290 refrigerant compressor, which is the same type of gas propane compressor built-in to fridges and air conditioning units; hence the Devola dehumidifier R290 compressor runs at relatively low pressure (128 psig). I was hesitant about spending this on a desk fan, but am impressed with the quality, very low noise on the lower settings and the functionality.I should have taken a photograph to show you the two pieces but I confess my excitement to put it together meant I just got straight on with construction.
