In other words, the plot can be as ingenious as you like but, if I don't like the characters, I don't like the book. The audiobook reflects Rhonda’s own journey and shares the most direct way out for those experiencing hardship and the path to end pain and suffering endured by so many, and it shines a light on a future without anxiety or fear. They plan to explore the village of St-Martins-on-the-Water and rest before the chaos of Mrs Smith's impending hen do. Margery and Clementine are enjoying a peaceful middle-age together in the small, idyllic town of Dewstow, and eagerly awaiting retirement from their work on the front line serving meals to the students at Summer view secondary school. It was really refreshing to read about these two characters, solving the death of their friend but not everything goes to plan, it was hilarious to read the blunders they made in their sleuthing.

However, I dislike the writing style because I just don’t get used to this British writing style probably.Those where I can empathise with the main characters, the book is well written, the solution to the mystery is not too obvious and I intend to go on with the series. Especially if you’re on the lookout for cosy mysteries, a subgenre that doesn’t seem to be that represented in LGBT lit.

Margery and Clementine start investigating - and getting into all kinds of escapades around the school.
