About this deal

We take intellectual property concerns very seriously, but many of these problems can be resolved directly by the parties involved. Crowns had been a circulating coin, and were produced regularly until 1902, the first year of Edward VII's reign. It has been confirmed by the Royal Mint that the coin remains legal tender, having been remonetized with a value of 25 pence. Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places.

His wife became knows as " Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother" and lived until 30th March 2002 when she was 101. There were four variants: A standard but 'proof-like' crown; a Frosted VIP proof; a Matt proof; and a plain edge proof. In 1947 the Royal Mint removed all Silver from our coinage and it was now to be struck in cupro-nickel.The coin features Humphrey Paget’s portrait of the king on the obverse and Benedetto Pistrucci’s St George and the dragon design on the reverse. The Festival of Britain was a national exhibition held throughout the United Kingdom in the summer of 1951. If you’d like to file an allegation of infringement, you’ll need to follow the process described in our Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy. This is a commemorative Crown coin struck by the British Royal Mint to celebrate the 1951 Festival of Britain – comes in the original box.

In 1951, to celebrate the end of austerity after World War II, the British Government held a ‘Festival of Britain’ on the South Bank in London. We have recently purchased a nice group of these coins which grade in Fine condition so they are affordable to fill that gap in your date run. Or maybe the difference is an increasing amount of cameo as you move from proof-like to VIP strikes. Just as advertised and not like MANY others who photograph their notes beneath glass and with favourable lighting to make them look WAY nicer than what arrives in the post.Four hundred years later, on the occasion of the Festival of Britain, the Royal Mint has issued a Crown piece, bearing on its edge the date 1851-1951 in Roman numerals, and a Latin inscription CIVIUM INDUSTRIA FLORET CIVITAS - "By the industry of its people the State flourishes".
