Some may not agree with me on this but I find this to be a very, very impressive 4K video presentation and by far the absolute best that this film has ever looked. Even one of his superior officers questions this choice later in the film, as well as gives him an earful for doing so. These are fierce performances that echo throughout the movie, and overshadow the latter half, where Matthew Modine and a young Adam Baldwin take centre stage to face the horrors of urban guerrilla warfare. Stanley Kubrick immediately yelled cut and went over to Ermey and asked, "What the hell is a reach-around? recent viewings, combined with the obvious visual strengths of this 4K transfer, have pushed me slightly over to the other side. For a 1987 film that seems odd, considering that Stereo was around and films were being released in the format. Hartmann's performance and the recruits' reactions as convincing as possible, Matthew Modine, Vincent D'Onofrio, and the other actors playing recruits never met R.

The color timing has been slightly changed up just a bit and makes for more accurate flesh tones and even more accurate colors on the uniforms. To create a realistic effect during Vietnam battle scenes, DP Douglas Milsome experimented with a camera with a shutter thrown off sync. encode, delivering a strong offering which laps up its dialogue-dominated first half before exploding onto the battlefront for a more engulfing close. It's frequently reference excellence here, rounding out a presentation that, alone, makes this release most worthy of an upgrade.As far as its realism, I have spoken with at least 1 Vietnam veteran who said that this is the best movie about that war. This sound mix is definitely not what some had hoped for, but given its limitations of source material still delivers a somewhat impressive surround presentation.
