That's my take on it, and I've read a lot of books with dubious consent in addition to none at all; compared to those, this one didn't make me feel uncomfortable about consent as those did. The romance storyline goes side by side with the vigilante one which adds tension, action and drama to an already heady erotic novel but in this case, it adds layers of intrigue and suspense to the narrative and the developing relationship between Zane and Adeline. Yes, there's triggers, we get it, but everyone can make their own decision on whether to read it or not and people seem extremely focused on that for a book that's been pretty open about the fact that this is not one for the faint of heart. I love these kinds of books, and this one is probably one of the best ones I've ever read/listened to.Trigger warnings emphasise the need for caution by reflecting the book's intense and potentially upsetting themes. Other than the fact that this whole sentence was unnecessary, if concrete flew into your eyes, you know damn well you'd fall to the ground like a bug. There was another sex scene that involved Zane "catching" or "chasing" Adeline, which seemed fun, I was totally down.

Every time I see Zade the r4pist getting praised on socials it feels like an actual violation and I get more and more angry. I love my Morally Grey Characters but even I have to say that Zane is heading more into the Morally BLACK territory, but I fell for him anyway. She's a sassy, non-nonsense kind of woman that knows her worth and isn't ashamed of who she is in the slightest, and I love that about her. Teddy Hamilton has always been excellent but gosh, he's stellar in this book, as is Michelle Sparks. So, on top of complaining about the quality of the smut, I'm also here to complain about the quantity.I will not be manipulated by "okay he does this to her but look at all the girls and women he's saving! The plot is fantastic and never leaves you wanting, with mysterious and sharp twists and turns that build higher and higher with every page.
