About this deal

Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth takes the fear out of childbirth by restoring women’s faith in their own natural power to give birth with more ease, less pain, and less medical intervention. I've yet to find a really wonderful pregnancy, childbirth or parenting book that is objective and firmly in the middle ground.

This very lengthy review might suggest that I didn't like this book or that I majorly disagreed with the author. There are many women who refuse to give birth without an epidural and therefore, have no desire to have a midwife or intervention-free birth. Again, modern medicine’s ability to dull that pain is an incredible achievement that has aided many women who have had difficult, complicated labors, but I don’t think that these methods should be turned to simply because of a dislike of pain.s are not critical thinkers (or at least haven't been taught this vital skill in medical school) and that they don't have time to read recent studies.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of it was filled with messages of female empowerment and a clear bias against anything having to do with modern medicine. I just let them come as fast as they wanted to, knowing that would help the birth happen without delay.Ron was impressed that the birth cottage had hospital equipment to stabilize an infant in an emergency.

Deborah said I was one centimeter dilated and loose, which I attribute to her absolute gentleness and the strong rapport I felt with her. Donna asked if I wanted to go see a midwife, but I decided to hold off until I was sure I wasn't getting excited over nothing. It was at that point that I knew I didn't want this man touching me--and internal exams were to begin in two weeks. Publication dates are subject to change (although this is an extremely uncommon occurrence overall). I'm not squeamish, I'm a nurse, but as a woman trying to prepare to have a baby in a few months I don't want to fill my head with stories and statistics about women who die in the process of labor; unnecessary stress and certainly not empowering for me.

My husband, Ron, had gone to work for the maker of the world's fastest supercomputers and was stationed at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. And I get it - I gave birth circa 2013 with a spa tub and a birthing ball and hypnotic mantras and an anaesthesiologist standing by. Wie Ina May über die Geburt schreibt, lässt einen an sich selbst glauben und gibt einem gleichzeitig Kraft und Motivation. Really helpful for people who fear birth, see it as a scary medical event, or just want to be inspired as to the sacred and spiritual event that birth can be.I liked reading about what the women did to cope with pain/lessen the pain and the various ways they pushed out their babies. The international bestseller that has helped millions of women trust in their body – and their baby – and give birth without fearDrawing on over 40 years’ experience, internationally acclaimed midwife Ina May Gaskin shows you how to use the mind-body connection to help labour progress calmly and safely. One tip: the author claims you'll get through your contractions better if you express words of love to your partner during them.
