It’s not clear why Moon Knight sometimes appears interchangeably as Mr Knight and Moon Knight either. Alessandro Cappuccio’s art was pretty good too, but with another more horror-oriented artist from the Fist of Konshu’s past like Sienkiewicz, Finch or Burrows, this could have been a five stars review from me. But while Khonshu languishes in a prison that Moon Knight put him in, Moon Knight must still observe his duty: protecting those who travel at night.

The art is spectacular, it's so satisfying to see such beautiful artwork and I love how it makes Mr Knight/Moonknight glow. The characters are unimpressive - I can name one supporting character’s name, Soldier (and, yes, he WAS a soldier - that’s how cerebral MacKay is! To provide this neglected community with a physical safe haven, Moon Knight founded the Midnight Mission, which also serves as his New York City base of operations. The Moon Knight stalks the rooftops and alleys marked with his crescent moon tag, bringing violence to any who would harm his flock. The Midnight Mission reminds me Jed Mackay's Black Cat series in that there's lots of fun action here, but very little exciting world-building. To help Moon Knight and Tigra from becoming overwhelmed, the undead Fists of Khonshu offer their support as well. Or redeem then read your digital copy on the Marvel Unlimited app by using the code found in your print comic. He's a badass psycho, pretty scary and you absolutely do not want to fight him but he's also dramatic as hell and has an emotional support teenage vampire.

Discover Moon Knight's crimefighting organization, which hopes to defend the streets of New York in the wake of his death. Daredevil has Hell's Kitchen, Luke Cage has Harlem, but Moon Knight doesn't define his community by traditional neighborhood lines. But while Khonshu languishes in prison, Moon Knight’s duty still must be observed: the protection of those who travel at night. He ultimately joined the Midnight Mission to take a stand against Zodiac and his continued vendetta against Moon Knight.

Alessandro Cappuccio’s art isn’t bad, though it’s not as striking as Steve McNiven’s covers unfortunately, and I suppose the stories are varied enough to not make for a relentlessly tedious read. After deciding to reject the influence of Khonshu, the Ancient Egyptian God of Vengeance and source of his powers, Moon Knight decided to help travelers of the night in his own way. The Moon Knight stalks the rooftops and alleys marked with his crescent moon tag, bringing violence to any who would harm his people. Moon Knight has opened a mission in his neighborhood and using it as a place for people to come ask for his help. Moon Knight is a very complicated character, and Mackay handles the nuances of his mental illness well. This is helped out by the fact that there's a second villain waiting in the wings who initially seems more important, but might be more of a Ghost-Maker to Moon Knight than a Joker. Though not explicitly part of the mission, Moon Knight's psychiatrist Andrea Sterman has also been linked to its activities.

Joining Moon Knight's cause, the House of Shadows became the new site of the Midnight Mission, occupying the same leasing space. It's not hyper-violent like Huston, or a trippy space war being fought in the mindscape like Lemire. while another Fist of Khonshu appears (“Hunter’s Moon” which sounds like a cheap aftershave) only for Moon Knight to defeat him with a baseball bat to the head. Instead, he finds his place among the misfits and monsters of the Marvel Universe that often feel like outsiders themselves. Knight has opened his Midnight Mission, his people petitioning for protection from the weird and horrible.I’m not sure what people see in Jed MacKay because what little I’ve read of his (Daredevil, Taskmaster, Black Cat) has been representative of the current dire state of Marvel: uninspired, poorly put-together and thoroughly uninteresting product. The therapy sessions feel very generic; and the overall plotting a bit unadventurous, but still, this is looking like the first Moon Knight season that I will actually stick with. On an administrative level, a recently turned vampire named Reese—one of the first people Moon Knight saved through the Midnight Mission—became Mister Knight's assistant and right-hand woman. Reese then became the Midnight Mission receptionist and Moon Knight's right hand, the only job she could keep due to her imposed lifestyle change. He fights a group of vampires, as well as Some Guy who’s trying to control him by hacking his bank account.
