In terms of characters, I think the reason I struggled to connect with James was that his actions felt selfish to me all along. James is claimed by his parents just shy of seven days--after which he would have officially become a Lost Boy. And while I appreciate the craft of it for it was unique and a great origin story for sure, it was not fun to read. Becoming an apprentice of the famous pirate Blackbeard and setting out on many adventures, James never loses sight of his ultimate goal. Jess is an Elvis-lover like Lilo, and when she doesn't have her nose stuck in a book, she delights in sharing with fellow fans all things Disney, books, movies and history. Mais ça reste un roman jeunesse, les scènes d’action sont rapides et tout s’enchaîne un peu trop vite à mon sens par moments.

Die Geschichten rund um die Disney-Villains sind bisher einfach so gut verfasst und miteinander verknüpft, dass man einfach nur Mitleid mit ihnen empfindet und traurig über die Schicksale ist, die sie ereilt haben…. Anyone who likes Hook backstories that don't delve too deep, short books, and perhaps previous books in Serena Valentino's Villains series (though I have not read them, so I don't think they're necessary if you don't want to read them).To keep all the different key stone magical items in mind and then be able to tie them back to another story is just stunning.
