About this deal

James, the heir to a duchy, fell out of his pram and was whisked away to Never Land where he played with the Lost Boys and Peter Pan before his parents managed to find him and bring him home. Struggling to hang on to the deep, pure love she's found within her marriage to her husband, Jonathan, she is inexorably drawn into a secret, passionate affair with a charismatic but dangerous lover. In terms of characters, I think the reason I struggled to connect with James was that his actions felt selfish to me all along. James’ sense of fulfilling his dreams becomes so distorted that one cannot pinpoint exactly where he loses his way. Young Owen Hardy from the village of Barrel Arbor dreams of seeing the big city and the breathtaking Clockwork Angels that dispense wisdom to the people, maybe even catching a glimpse of the Watchmaker himself.

Then they reach Japan and all her suffering seems worthwhile until she is abducted by Taro Kumashiro's warriors. But Rose doesn’t believe the shipwreck was an act of nature, nor does she believe Charles is truly dead. From the New York Times best-selling author of Disney's Villains series comes a ghostly new stand-alone novel that reimagines The Legend of Sleepy Hollow through the eyes of a modern teen. T. Barnum, a man who longed to make his fortune by selling the wondrous and miraculous, and there is nothing more miraculous than a real mermaid.

James is claimed by his parents just shy of seven days--after which he would have officially become a Lost Boy. And while I appreciate the craft of it for it was unique and a great origin story for sure, it was not fun to read. Becoming an apprentice of the famous pirate Blackbeard and setting out on many adventures, James never loses sight of his ultimate goal. Jess is an Elvis-lover like Lilo, and when she doesn't have her nose stuck in a book, she delights in sharing with fellow fans all things Disney, books, movies and history. Shorts and Specials: The Walt Disney Christmas Show • Reading Magic with Figment and Peter Pan • You Can Fly!I strongly recommend that Never Never be read as part of the series and not simply as a standalone novel. Halloween Parade • The Disney Villains Halloween Showtime • The Villains Rockin’ Halloween • The Villains World • Villains Dance Party • Villains Mix and Mingle • Villains Night Out! Smee, who was apparently a former footman in his parents house and managed to rise to a butler's position and refuses to abandon his charge. Examines the life of Snow White's stepmother, the Wicked Queen, to find out just what it is that makes her so evil that she would want to cut out her teenage step-daughter's heart and have it delivered in a locked keepsake box.

Anyone who likes Hook backstories that don't delve too deep, short books, and perhaps previous books in Serena Valentino's Villains series (though I have not read them, so I don't think they're necessary if you don't want to read them). To keep all the different key stone magical items in mind and then be able to tie them back to another story is just stunning.
