About this deal

Mischievous Livertpool teenager Francis Scully began life as a series of short stories by Alan Bleasdale, subsequently broadcast by BBC Radio Merseyside in 1971. Books and plays followed before the character’s first TV appearance in a 1978 BBC Play for Today, Scully’s New Year’s Eve where he was played by Andrew Schofield with Ray Kingsley as his pal, Mooey. A decade that changed music & Film forever! let’s celebrate the 1980's in style! Admire our sexy Ghostbuster costumes! Who you gonna call? Fancy Dress Ball of course! The 80’s was a decade of cultural, social and of course political counter-revolution. Hi De Hi fancy dress campers! Dun dun DUNNNN! Don your satin cape and mask and become.... Captain Chaos! 80’s popstars galore, beautiful Baywatch babes, neon tutu kits! Usage: 'Devoed, girl, I left me coat at home and it was proper baltic. Must've been abar minus 40.' Elvis Costello, who sings the show’s theme, Turning the Town Red, also appears as Scully’s brother.

Each episode opened with the trio meeting in a park shelter to make plans for the day, then closed at the same location with the boys reflecting on the day’s achievements… which were usually nothing. But that did not deter their next venture. Scouse saying: Fazak for Fazakerley, Mersey Funnel for the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral and Noggsy for Norris Green In case of points being level, band with more No.1 singles finishes higher. If still level, band with more No.1 albums finishes higher. Exploding to fame in the early 2000s having come from humble Wirral beginnings, The Coral found success with their self-titled debut album in 2002. The album was subsequently nominated for the 2002 Mercury Music Prize and voted fourth best album of the year by NME Magazine. Their follow up album, Magic and Medicine, hit No.1 in the UK Albums Chart. Shot entirely on film, the series is arguably more quirky drama with comedy than traditional sitcom. Scully’s Billy Liar type daydreams, usually involving Liverpool FC players, lends a comically surreal touch, and the use of genuine Merseyside locations adds an authentic texture.

Height Measure your height from the top of your head to the floor. For an easy method, either mark the wall with a pencil where your head touches it or place a flat object like a book where your head meets the wall. Then measure the distance from that point to the floor to determine your height. O.M.D never actually had a UK No.1 single or a UK No.1 album, however they had 7 UK Top 10 singles, staying in the Top 10 for 30 weeks, and 6 UK Top 10 albums, staying in the Top 10 for 35 weeks. Front man, Andy McCluskey, is a hugely regarded song-writer and went on to conceive the popular girl group…. 2. Atomic Kitten (82 points) Having come out of a stretch in prison, Billy has to adjust to a changed family. His eldest son Tony (David Casey) speaks in an Oxbridge acquired accent his father detests. Daughter Bernadette (Alison Steadman) is a flirtatious, self-styled “Sex symbol of Scouse land” who – in one controversial scene – is eyed up by her own grandad (Joe Gladwin). On our Facebook poll fan, Dave Henshaw said: “ I’ll always love Kev Seed, made me laugh every morning for years… thank you for doing that mate, you made going to work much more enjoyable.” Lily Savage & Paul O Grady Hitchmough’s gentle humour and sparkling dialogue ensured it became a much loved show, viewers faithfully following the couple’s trials and tribulations – including Malcolm’s short lived marriage to the humourless Lucinda (Elizabeth Morton) during a period of separation from Brenda.

When Myra Taylor bowed out as co-writer, Carla Lane moved the pair into a spacious flat, allowing a wider canvas for other regulars. Two of these were John Nettles as Sandra’s boyfriend, Paul, and Jonathan Lynn as Beryl’s significant other.

point is scored for: UK No.1 single and each week spent at No.1, UK Top 10 single and each week spent in Top 10, UK No.1 album and each week spent at No.1, UK Top 10 album and each week spent in Top 10 There are so many arguments, such as this only being based on success in the UK and bands being subject to different competition in different eras, but here is the Top 10 based on our criteria: 10: The Farm (20 points) OK, so did you guess our No.1 correctly? Achieving huge success in the 80s, Frankie Goes To Hollywood claims the title of La Vida Liverpool’s Most Successful Scouse Band Since The Beatles. The group became only the second act in the history of the UK charts to reach No.1 with their first 3 singles — the first being Liverpool’s Gerry and the Pacemakers. Ever since The Beatles split up in 1970, it’s safe to say that Scouse bands have been living in the shadows of the ‘Fab Four’— after all, how could any band emulate the success of The Beatles and the impact they had on music? Liverpool has and continues to be on the forefront of innovative, bold fashion. The city has been showcased in many TV shows – thanks to their most famous sons, the Beatles. But the adoption of the shell suit in 80s and 90s by Liverpool trendsetters heralded the evolution of sportswear into streetwear.

For the record, if we score The Beatles in the same way they would have achieved a mighty 993 points! It seems inconceivable that a Scouse band will achieve anywhere near that any time soon, but keep reading La Vida Liverpool as we keep you up to date with the best music coming out of Merseyside. The Clarksons live in an outside lavvie terrace where Billy struggles to stay out of prison, while his Mary Ellen wife is rarely out of hair curlers. Mounting complaints about the show’s exaggerated portrayal of Liverpudlians led to it being pulled just short of its final episode and never seen again. Bands must be from Liverpool or Wirral according to Wikipedia (if you’re not happy then simply remove Wirral bands and have our new, shorter list)

The one, the only Pete Price, Liverpool’s Citizen of Honour and greatest radio phone in host ever! The man, the lizard (apparently) has had an incredible 50 year career in entertainment. The natural ability to have any size audience in absolute uproar laughing, Pete travelled the world as a stand up comic after winning 70’s talent show ‘New Faces’. Now he’s either having a rant with us at The Guide Liverpool or hosting his long running Radio City phone in show – with hysterical results. Liverpool pays tribute to Pete’s amazing career here. Freddie Starr If you have lived in Liverpool, in the surrounding areas or even just have family located there, consider yourself a Scouser! While the Boswell’s little triumphs may be over idealised, Bread became a smash hit, partly due to its innovative use of soap style cliffhangers that kept the viewer hooked. Their following album, Ocean Rain, achieved success in 1984 along with their acclaimed single, The Killing Moon. Since their self-titled album in 1987 and band member changes and reformations, success has been varied although they will always have a cult following. 8. The Coral (21 points) Nevertheless, Bread soldiered on for another three years before concluding in 1991. But if there is one observation to be made, it is this. If the Boswell brothers were really Liverpool lads, how come we never saw them down the pub or at the match?

Selling over 10 million records worldwide, the group have had 13 UK Top 10 singles and 3 UK No.1 singles: Whole Again (the fourth-best-selling song of all time by a girl group in the UK), Eternal Flame and The Tide Is High (Get The Feeling). They had 2 UK No.1 albums and their re-released debut album, Right Now, was certified double platinum after selling over 600,000 copies. 1. Frankie Goes To Hollywood (95 points)Waist Find your waist, which lies between the bottom of your ribs and the top of your hips. Place the measuring tape around your waist, usually just above the belly button. Exhale naturally, and then take the measurement. Ensure the tape is firm against your waist without digging into your skin. When Polly James decided to leave, she was replaced by Carol Boswell (Elizabeth Estensen) and her extended family including rabbit obsessed brother Lucien (Michael Angelis) and their God fearing mother, Mrs. Boswell (Carmel McSharry).
