Just opening up the child's mouth for the dentist to take a look at is useful practice for the future. Zoje Stage is fearless. This book will surely be controversial and will likely be the subject of many heated debates among book clubs everywhere. I happened to love this book, but I recognize that this book isn’t for everyone. However, that’s why books are so special. A thousand people can read one book and have several different opinions and perspectives. I can’t imagine what Stage will turn out next, but, what I do know is, I will be the first in line!

I believe I’m going to bust out my complement sandwich for this review... as a refresher a complement sandwich is good/bad/good.... so in short the bad is sandwiched in between the good..... I also want to make it very clear that I read this with a group and I was in the true minority on this.... so the opinions in this review are absolutely my own and my review should be read with the understanding that this book is unquestionably not for everybody.... The synopsis here is straightforward. Hanna loves Daddy. Hanna does not love Mommy. In fact, things would be perfect if Mommy wasn’t in the picture at all.

She let Abha clean her off and dress her for bed, even though Hanna could have managed it all herself. One foot over the other, she leaned against the hallway railing, eager to see Abha’s technique for cleaning up pee and poo. She knew how Mommy would do it—had even seen her do it once, when Hanna, at two, had legitimately not made it to the potty in time. Mommy had gloves and cleaning stuff stashed under every sink, but Abha didn’t know that.This book is not for everyone. You will hate it if you don't like the insane child trope. When Suzette came in and saw it, she was horrified and shook Hanna, saying she would tell Alex. However, when Alex came home, Hanna had twisted her own arm so that bruises appeared, and when he saw them, he was furious with Suzette. They had a tense dinner, and Hanna decided that she could make Alex dislike Suzette even more if she made her ugly.

Suzette and her husband, Alex, work hard to provide, Hanna, a stable environment where she can grow and flourish in. Despite all of the well-meaning efforts of these adults, however, Hanna hasn’t developed as expected. Aside from never starting to speak, Hanna has also repeatedly demonstrated a tendency towards violent behavior and a resistance towards connecting with her mother in any meaningful way.

A battle of wills between mother and daughter reveals the frailty and falsehood of familial bonds in award-winning playwright and filmmaker Zoje Stage’s tense novel of psychological suspense, Baby Teeth. Several years ago, while I was still pursuing a career as a filmmaker, I wrote a script that I wanted to direct called "Hands and Knees." It involved a family similar to BABY TEETH's, but the theme was quite different: it was about a woman who was becoming overwhelmed by what she perceived to be the horrors of domesticity. As an intended film, it was geared more toward mood (cool, detached) and a cinematic look. It’s one of those novels that you’re there reading and waiting for something to happen and nothing happens. It’s just a lot of talking, repeated dialogue of what is already known or happened, and it’s a slogfest. Mind you, I’ve yet to speak about the ending. It is unnerving in the reality of it. This could happen and probably does. I know there are parents out there who are afraid of their children. A while later, Anna wakes up at night and discovers Moses in the process of robbing the family for prescription drugs. Milla and Henry wake up and are alerted to the situation, but while Henry wants to call the police Milla pleads for leniency, which Anna allows, noticing how much happier Milla is with Moses. The following day Anna warns Moses to stay away from her daughter.
