It’s good to see that this tool can clip onto the wand, so you can carry it around as you get on with your vacuuming. I measured the Beldray Airlite Cordless Graphite BEL01096’s performance in AirWatts. On standard power, I measured power at just 7AW, which is the lowest I’ve ever seen on a cordless vacuum cleaner. You can’t expect a lot of power from a cheap vacuum cleaner such as this, and the Beldray 2-In-1 Cordless Vacuum (BEL01088ALFOB) doesn’t have a lot of raw power. Measuring it at the nozzle, I tested the cleaner’s power in airwatts (AW) – this uses both suction power and airflow. On low power, the cleaner got 22AW, which is very low, while high power jumped to 38AW, which is still a lot lower than much of the competition.For cleaning spills you must first empty the storage compartment for the sake of keeping the vacuum cleaner working, a simple enough task but one that again shows a flaw in the Beldray. The clear dust compartment is a clever way of showing when the vacuum needs emptying, but due to the design of the compartment, it’s next to impossible to remove all debris. While it may only make the vacuum unsightly, it is rather annoying. One shopper who was previously using a far more expensive model said they “love this hoover, absolutely brilliant, would highly recommend it!”

The vacuum head is suitable for all floor types, and the included crevice and brush tools helps to reach those difficult high-up areas.

This is a special edition model available in flashy colours, but a standard version comes in at a few pounds less. Initial impressions are what you’d expect for a budget wet and dry vacuum cleaner. The plastics feel robust enough, if not brimming with a quality feel. There is only one button (on/off) which makes operating it very simple. No fancy press car polished more than a mirror for us, this vacuum was tested on the boot of a real person’s car. The boot was in everyday use and provided the perfect testbed for the Beldray. If it could prove itself here, it would be perfect for domestic use.
