About this deal

As far as other storage products on the market go, this is definitely one of the best out there. Although the price can seem a little steep for what it is, you’ll discover its true value the second you start to use it. One of the bag types I did not include in this list are those that use luggage wheels. These are for you collectors who not only have HUGE numbers of models, but also travel a lot through public transportation systems, e.g,, airports. The more I think about it, the more likely I am to buy the next size up for my larger armies. I know the standard of protection I’m going to receive with the citadel cases, and I’m unlikely to find the same unbeatable standard of product from any other make of case. A solid box to hold your battle miniatures. Built to last, easy and intuitive modular design, affordable pricing. What’s there not to like about Feldherr Miniature Transport Case?

If you do have an army that contains a lot of large vehicles, behemoths or dragons, you may want to opt for the larger of the three cases that are on offer. Especially as the trays included in the medium sized case aren’t tall enough the house the full height of a tank. On the other hand, if you have a small army for a skirmish game such as Kill Team, you might find the smallest of the three cases more optimal for the ground troops you’re running. Soft Interior Of course, the foam channels are fairly thin so this isn’t the best option for heavy models made of pewter. But, in a pinch, if you need it to carry resin dense miniatures (e.g., Forgeworld models), this case could do it. The convienence factor alone of the foam is awesome! It is cheaper than most of the bags of this type, however still very sturdy and enough internal cushion to provide excellent protection for your miniature army. Finding the perfect one-size fits all army transport system is a never ending adventure. You won’t find that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. If you’re an RPG gamer, like for D&D, or tabletop skirmish gamer, you can use this to keep your transport foot print down. Portability is paramount with a smaller bag, and you can move this thing where ever you with confidence that you could be discreet.

As mentioned, nylon is used for its construction, which is durable and will last a long time depending on how much abuse you throw at it. This comes highly recommended for its ability to stand up to heavy use and considered one of the best army transport cases. Finally, you should look for a bag that fits your budget. More expensive miniature army cases can be hundreds of dollars. Some are repurposed or rebranded Pelican cases, such as the Citadel hard cases. Most of the time you can find a similar off-brand version of the case you want, which will be a much cheaper transport option. The Crusade Case is made of a soft, pliable but seemingly durable plastic, that closely snuglywith the foam inside. The plastic enclosure is a flexible material, which have some give as you press down on it. Mind you, the compression doesn’t apply a lot of force on the miniatures inside. It basically hugs your miniatures firmly so they stay in place within the foam inserts. We know that you want the best protection for your miniatures – the foam inside the case is slightly larger than the case itself, and will compress around the figures when closed, ensuring a minimum of movement for any miniature. I have two of these and you can take a sharpie marker and label each box directly on the plastic casing. For long term safe storage for your painted models and wargaming miniatures, this is simple and practical choice. The Games Workshop Warhammer 40,000 40K Citadel Crusade Figure Case is the largest version of the Citadel Figure Case line of transport storage cases. It has all the advantages of the Battle Figure Case, but is much larger! A limitation that I have yet to test is whether the foam is durable. The individual “channels” appear to have been constructed by gluing individual foam zig-zag strips into a foam “frame”. If the glue does not hold properly, or is weakened by repeated use, then the foam channels would eventually collapse.

The case is made of a hard plastic, so you aren’t going to get dings and dents in it and your miniatures are kept safe. There’s nothing wrong with soft cases, I own a few myself, but having a hard exterior case is never a bad thing in my opinion. Note: This bag does not come with foam. You will need to buy foam separately. There are a lot of sizes to choose from!). But, long-term use may require maintaining the foam to keep it from falling apart. That means likely avoiding transporting too many heavy miniatures (e.g., read that as pewter, metal models). The Game Plus Products Miniature Case/Bag is for those of you looking for a better quality Sabol Army Transport bag (which is more expensive, and uses crappy vinyl fabric). For the cost, the Game Plus is a very good value that uses stronger Nylon fabric. It feels better to use! The Game Plus bag also comes in a variety of colors! To keep things simple, I review using details of largest of the Citadel army transport case systems, the Crusade Case. The smaller cases are similar in function and form, e.g., same durable materials, foam design, and latching enclosure. The Citadel Battle and Skirmish cases are less expensive, but still do the same job. The Crusade case by Games Workshop

Game companies and third-party accessory makers have come up with a myriad of miniature and model transport and storage systems. They are cases and boxes of every size, shape, and volume. They are filled with foam or other cushioning material that are molded or pre-shaped to the particular needs of commonly-sized minis (28-35mm for most hobby games).
