Identifying Cause and Effect: After reading the Giraffes Can't Dance book, discuss the causes and effects of the story. Ask students to identify what happened (effect) when Gerald believed he couldn't dance (cause) and then what happened when he found his rhythm (cause). Are there some things that you are not good at right now that you may be good at in the future? Can you come up with examples? The other animals assumed that because Gerald was clumsy he couldn’t dance. Is that a good assumption for them to make? Why or why not?
